With the heavy rains of the last two days, the Banica is on the rise again. Here is the Colon Extension "ford" of the Banica at about 1745 local time on 31 July 09. At that hour, I could not notice any flooding in the adjacent residential areas, although I am sure that my neighbours are concerned.

I pray that all are, and remain, safe and dry!

I hope for all of us that we will not have a disaster like in February.

Having said that, the heavy rains caused a landslide of Apo Island and a part of one of the dive-shops is gone, inclusive some equipment.

The ocean on the east-side is so rough and the visibility goes towards 0 that search and recovery is almost impossible.

    All the best and ...

Attached the clouds causing that... somehow it looks way worse the north... seems we are still the lucky ones... name of the tropical depression w/ the center in the north of Luzon is Jolina ...

And the 1700 local weather guess is:

"The rest of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over the western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas which may trigger flashfloods and landslides."

    Enjoy!

Words fail me at describing just how thrilled I am to be lead to a link which does NOT work!

Here in the Philippines it's PAGASA. Try this:

PAGASA - DOST - DOST SERVICE INSTITUTES

Reliable weather and seismic event information. This link works!

typhoon2000 works perfect here :D and is by far more reliable pagasa (...actually also the site where the picture I posted above is downloaded from)

... btw it is not even posted as a link... so I am not that surprised that the "link" is not working...

Yup. Got it. Lots of links to elsewhere. So?

Is this where your favourite airline gets its weather briefings?

    hehe... good one...

actually I found myself lost on typhoon2000 for some hours before, just with all the links to great sources... (perfect activity, sitting in a WIFI airport waiting for the delayed CP flight)

but at least the next storm "Morakot" is missing us down here in the PI...
