The Dane, I heard that Philippine Airlines now has flights to Dumaguete. Is that true?

I've booked several Air Philippines flights on the PAL website. The Air Philippines flights show up as 'OP' during booking (other airline - i.e. Air Philippines). Unfortunately, seems like most flights require a trip to the local PAL ticket office to collect the ticket - rather than an e-ticket over the web. Kind of defeats the purpose of web-booking....but at least it reserves the seats.

By the way, those Palakbayan specials to some locations, with hotels, breakfasts, airfare, etc....often very good value when coming from Manila (sometimes good value if going to Manila too). We've used them for Bohol and Bacolod. Check the hotel rates on the hotel websites, then compare with what PAL is offering when combined with airfare. You might be pleasantly surprised....

Cebu Pacific vs. Air Philippines to Dumaguete

Air Philippines is owned by Philippine Airlines... So in a way they do

there are pros and cons about both Cebu Pacific and Air Philippines.

Cebu Pacific is easy to book online..but changes especially on the Manila side is hard as you have to go to their office and waiting time is 2+ hours most of the day.

Air Philippines fly out of the new centennial airport in Manila, so checkin is a lot easier, but booking the ticket is through a regular ticket agent... no online payment.

Yes. On closer inspection I see you can book MNL-DGT, one way or round trip, Air Philippines flights (and pay for them) online at the PAL website. But you can't do DGT-MNL online (OW or RT)...bit strange...especially since I've booked and paid for Air Philippines trips out of Cebu and Bacolod online via PAL. Just go to the airport a little earlier to pick up the ticket....you also need to bring the same credit card you used to pay for the flight. Wonder why Air Philippines flights out of Dumaguete got left out of the online process.

What I really wish is someone would fly from Cebu to Dumaguete...Ferries are fun but do eat a lot of time....

    Online Flight Booking

How odd that it is possible to book and pay flights online in one direction and not the other... Does not make sense to me at all.

I've heard this too, but when I looked it said:

THE PALAKBAYAN PACKAGES MAY BE SOLD ONLY IN THE PHILIPPINES.

That is very true. Why....I don't know...they could triple their participation if they made these available to overseas purchasers. A bit silly on that stipulation. What isn't true of their requirements is booking one week ahead....we've done it the day before, a couple days before, etc...we tend to spend a day or two in Manila before heading south anyway - since most of my wife's relatives have moved there. Anyway, they are good value....in the event you can use them...
