Just remember jesus is the reason for the season. You should keep jesus in you heart and mind 24/7 year round....christmas is the most important birthday you will ever celebrate....just my thoughts on the matter..... Cowboy

... at least that is the illusion in peoples mind...

go on the street and ask random locals "what day is the birthday of Jesus Christ ?" or "Why do we celebrate Easter ?"
The answers will give you a totally other perspective of Catholicism in this country...

Sorry, I was under the obviously misguided impression, that the early Christian church had 'borrowed' the date for 'His' birthday from earlier pagan (if one can call ancient Persian, Egyptian, Celtic, Roman etc etc-pagan) beliefs. This replaced any earlier date of January 6th and let's not forget 'old' St Nicholas, the saint normally associated with this season, who's been birthday partying on Dec 6th for a while, he being the forerunner of Santa Claus.
    Just my thoughts too.

No one knows the exact date the lord jesus was born only conjecture so at a loss for the exact date we of christian faith have chosen dec. 25 as the date to use. The date is of no real importance only the fact we honor jesus birth. And as for easter. We honor his death and his rise from the grave to be in heaven with the father god. Jesus was sent here by the father to die for our sins. All u have to do is believe and you will have the grace of god and eternal life in heaven....if u want to read the whole story then pick up a bible and start reading the new testiment. You will be enlightened. Cowboy sometimes i just go off

Yes....your not that too far from where I live. Your name sounds familiar to me. Did you join a forum call mag-anak? It's a Fil-Am forum. I'm a member with it. How long have you lived in US? I have been here in the US for 5 years now. I never been back home since then. It's really difficult to travel with toddlers. I hope you don't mind me asking you those questions. Thanks and take care.

No, I'm not a member of mag-anak but I've heard of it. I've been here for almost 6 years now. We went home in July of '07 and met Rhoody and the rest of the gang. We had a blast. I've been rather busy lately so I haven't posted here in a long time...probably around a year or so. :(

Sorry for going off topic, guys. As for Christmas, I know that it has become so commercialized lately that it's hard to feel the true spirit of Christmas. But we only have to look inside our hearts to realize what it truly means. It's as simple as that.
