⌛ New Guy Expectations?

Hey Everyone,
My name is Ken. I'm a 29 year old American who is thinking about moving to the Philippines for a year or so. I was hoping to ask a few questions on here to get more of an idea about the Dumaguete area. So without further delay...

1. I found an apartment online in the city of Sibulan. How safe in general is it for an American in this city?

2. The reason I'm thinking of moving there is golf. There's a course that's within 10 minutes of this apartment. What sort of travel is there in this area? I know of those Jeepneys or whatever they're called in PI, but I wasn't sure about this area.

3. Also, I'm just looking for someone to give me a rundown on what I'd be getting myself into. A buddy of mine is married to a woman from Mindenao (sp?) and he says the Philippines aren't dangerous for Americans, but I've read some stories, so I wanted to get another opinion.

4. Finally, can someone tell me how much it is to become a member at Angtay Golf and Country Club? I know that may seem a bit obscure, but they only have a phone number on their website.

The philippines specially in in dumaguete is very peacefull. As long as you know how to behave. Theres a saying that when your in rome be a roman so if you are in the philippines you need to respect people. The filipino's are know to their hospitality.

The town of Sibulan was regarded as a 4th class municipality under the banner of Negros Oreintal, Philippines. It has an estimated population of 37, 523 people in 7, 781 households according to the statistics recorded by NSO in 2000 Census.

In the southern part Sibulan is bordered by the province capital, Dumaguete City.

Sibulan was also a best destinations for the local and tourist visitors visiting the region. Best attractions that can be found in the place are; Twin Lakes eco-tourism site, composed of Lake Balinsasayaw and Lake Danao. The Looc Memorial Shrine a historical site of the WWII encounter in Negros Oriental, on October 11, 1942, when independent partisan guerilla groups joined forces, the town festival celebrated every June 13th in honor of their Patron Saint, San Antonio de Padua. There are also golf courses that can be found in the municipality like Dumaguete Golf & Country Club and San Antonio Golf Course.

common transporation is jeepney and tricycles.
