Coral Cay was one of my favourite places to stay on Siquijor. The cottage we had was beautiful, very clean with hot water and a ceiling fan - which is very rare in the Phils, and great if you don't like having cold aircon on all night (we had air con too though). The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the beach and pool they have at the resort are great. The food was good, but not the best.

I would choose Coral Cay over Coco Grove. Coco Grove is much larger, and the resort is flashier - BUT waaay more expensive, and the rooms were not as nice. The air con in my room was broken and I had to ask several times before someone brought a fan in that I could use instead. The food and cocktails at Coco Grove are great, but are very expensive compared to anywhere else. Coral Cay is much better value for money. If you want to dive though, Coco Grove does have the Tubod marine reserve right on the doorstep and the Sea Explorers dive shop.

Last time I was at Kiwi it was looking a bit run down, and very quiet even in peak season (Holy Week). We were actually staying at the resort next door as they have cottages on the beach (Kiwi's are mostly up a steep flight of steps and back from the sea) but went to eat dinner at Kiwi a couple of nights. Once we were told that there was no chef there to cook anything... I have no idea what the people staying there did! They do have gorgeous proper bread and real coffee though, and all the food is pretty good when it's available. The dive centre here only has a small boat, so I don't think they would take people right round the island. Sea Explorers is the best dive shop on the island.

I am very late with my post. But I like to contribute anyway. I stayed at Coral Cay in July 2007 and really liked it. It was only me at the resort at that time (maybe cause of low season?) and it was so relaxing. The food was good but a bit limited in choice. I didnt like the beach, but being in the rainy season I cant judge it too hard. A lot of seaweed. I know that beaches can be so much nicer in the dry season in the Philippines. Alona beach in Panglao is a good example of that. I used the pool a lot, and it was really nice and clean. I should have enjoyed more if I had a gf with me, this is the kind of place you would want that! If anyone is interested (probably not any longer) I have some pictures from my stay at Coral Cay.

My wife and I stayed at Coral Cay Resort last year, and I have to say the whole place was above par. What ever you do... do not be tempted by the Hard Rock. The smell was terrible.

My fiancee and I stayed at Coral Cay in April of this year for a week and had a fabulous time!!! The cottages were clean (and cleaned daily!), the food was superb, and the staff could not have been more friendly and gracious. I highly recommend the facilities for anyone looking for a laid-back, well run, beachside resort.

Stay in Coral Cave twice. Can only say I didn't regret to spend a couple of days. They have rooms for every budget. The food is good, if not to say excellent. There's a more than sizable swimming pool. The staff as well as the owner (from USA) is friendly. Sunsets are great as well as the bar directly on the white sand beach. The only disadvantage, the bottom of the sea is rather muddy and lot's of urchins (so wear swimming shoes). My overall opinion, worth to visit for relax & njoy.

    My 2 pesos worth!

Well, funny about that. I stayed there just last week and spent 5 nights. Not bad...on a scale of 1-5 and solid 2.5.
Room: P1600 - On the beach Nipa with very nice CR and sitting area. Good bed!
Service: Great, but the owners wife was there and wasn't very friendly. Renting a bike there costs P500/day. Do yourself a favour and go into Siquijor Town to Scandanavian bike rentals...P350 Day and anything over 3 days they'll work a deal.
Food: Very average. Doesn't really "stand out" and a bit pricey.
Beach Bar: Great bar location but just not happening. If I hear David Foster and "oldies" tunes anymore I'll choke. Hey, when ya got people enjoying the evening breeze at the bar...keep it upbeat!
Beach: Nice beach but unfortunately on shore winds so lot's of debris. That's not their fault though.

Now, Coco Grove. I've already booked for December. Sure a basic room is P2400/ngt but the beer and food is cheaper than Coral Cay. Better menu, 2 beautiful pools and a little marine reserve right off the beach for a quick morning snorkel. Not bad.
My 2 pesos...spend more on the room, less on the food and get better service, location, accomodations etc.
Enjoy the journey folks. That's what it's all about!

Just booked Coral Cay over Xmas, Coco Grove is pretty much booked out already, at least for a family of 4. They did have a standard room available but available times are slim.
