When I did finley get off the plane in Manila it was like being back home it all hit me like a ton of bricks I was back. Back in the Philippines I fell in love with this country back in the 1970's and so how forgot how wonderful it was. But that was then and now is now, I go back every 6 months and stay for a month. this time My honey ko and my self are Headed your way. Yep Dumaguete so As a first timer to yur Island I want to say Salamat po. thank you for having me as your guest on your island. Now for some advice I need to find a way to go from Dumaguete to my Sweetharts Island of Iloilo we have to stop there as we have been doing it since we net 2.5 yrs ago. yes she is a sweetheart The Island of love gave me a true dream girl. So guys and girls How does the crazy co Calif guy get from Dumaguete to Iloilo is there any way to do it fast as not in 1/2 a days travel by buss ? Are there any boats that go from here to there ?
    or from here to some place close to there ? or even from here to anywere close to iloilo. HELP . I asked Honey ko and she has never been to Dumaduete so we are kind of at a lose. Do we have to go all the way back to Manila then to Iloilo PLEASE SAY NO !!!! Salamat po in advance for all your help Bullfrog2014

    Hi;
    You can now take an early morning plight from Dumaguete-Cebu via Cebu Pacific airline then Cebu-Iloilo.Dumaguete-Cebu approximately 30 minutes, Cebu-Iloilo around 50 minutes.If you plan properly, you will be in Iloilo at least before 10:00 am. I hope this will help as we did experienced it last July 2009. Thanks!

    Bullfrog2014,

    Another way to get to Iloilo from Dumaguete is to take a Ceres bus or hire a car from Dumaguete to Bacolod and then catch a ferry from Bacolod to Iloilo. This might be a better option for you and your honey. Also, you will be able to see the other side of the Philippines other than the Subic Bay.

    I am from Sagay City, Negros Occidental originally and also used to live in Moreno Valley, CA until we moved here in Northeast Ohio.

    Good luck.

    Bullfrog 2014,

    Welcome to our Dumaguete Info forum.
    You don't want to be in the bus for half a day to move from Dumaguete to Iloilo, but I'm afraid it won't take you much faster on whatever way you go there.
    We go once in a while (my honey is from Guimaras, the island opposite the city of Iloilo). The bus takes very long: from Dgt to Bacolod takes you at the moment (heavy road repairs !) between 5 till 6 hours. Then still the ferry to Iloilo.
    The plane could be faster but with waiting times (flightschedules) I doubt that you can do it within half a day (including the checking-in times !!)
    But what means time if it is her family who you gonna visit :D:smile:

    My wife is from iloilo, theres only 2 ways for us to get there,,First by a Bus going to Bacolod 6Hrs,,then a fastcraft going to Iloilo 1.5hrs, Second by plane to Cebu,,landtrip is also possible but plane is less stressful,,then next by a plane going to Iloilo,,Iloilo airport is 1hr travel going to the city proper.

    Thanks everyone

    Thanks Guys,
    Wow I didnt think it was going to be that hard sounds like more the 1/2 a day even if we fly.We had planed on flying from Manila to Dunaguete any how as the Not so Super ferry droped there Monday schedule ,and left us haveing to pay extra bagage weight as we have 45 kg of dive equipment we need to take with us. $75 dollars one way for that extra weight but this the only reason we are going there in the first place. As for seeing the other side of the Philippines dont worry I have seen a lot already. We travel all over from Iloilo,cebu,bohol,palawan,manila,boracay,and now dumaguete so im not a new bee to the Philippines or the way of life there. I love it thats why I am there . SO it sounds like some one could make some good money with a ferry from Dumagyete to Iloilo as it looks like more them Honey ko and me want to make that trip. 6 hrs on a buss just isnt fun i have done it before but was trying not to have to do it again this trip.But it sounds like thats the only way to get there well thats life in the Philippines i guess. You cant always get what you want you may try sometimes but mostley you get what you need. I need to get to Iloilo so again guys thank you for the help and Info and the warm welcome to your forum
