You haven't heard of the phrase "being facetious", I presume then?
Anyway, you haven't actually met my 'darling/dragon', so please reserve judgement till that fateful day.:D

    Negative aspects of a Pinay

OK, after the positive, here are some negative aspects of life with a Pinay.

*Too trusty towards other filipino, a major issue here in the west.
*Family ties, she is expected to provide some kind of support to her family.
*Holiday destinations will always only be the Philippines.
*Buying a property to let someone else live in it.
*Too proud to admit own mistakes and loose face.
*Language barrier, english is forgotten at friends' parties.

This does not necessarely apply to all, also one has to consider that the positive more than offset the negative qualities of a Pinay.
Then again, if we were to list the defects of us long noses, you'll probably need to change server and increase storing capacity....eh...eh...
I thought it would be fair to address the other side of the coin to get a better picture.

    Curiousity on the Marriage

    Roody,

I have to agree with you that all it is, is a piece of paper, and with divorce rates being so high in so many countries, it doesn't seem to make any sense and I've even contributed to the divorce pool. All that being said though, I would dive right back into that pool if my partner and I chose to, but I don't begrudge anyone who doesn't get married. Heck, I've known a couple who decided against marriage for most of their lives, then eventually get married, only to divorce about 4 years later. I do have to wonder with you being so dead set against it, what if your partner suddenly decided it was what she wanted? Would you marry for her if that was how she wanted you to show your love? It is good to make a firm stand, but there is nothing wrong with leaving things open to possibly change your mind later on.

If my partner suddenly demands that, I would suddenly transform the entrance door of my house into a one way exit...

That would basically mean she did not listen, think about and understand a pretty clear statement made (like some others: no centavo to any relative and more) even before start holding hands or having romantic dinner...

might sound pretty arrogant and cold hearted and maybe I am, but I make clear from the first second who I am, what i do and what my lifestyle is. There won't be a "darling you changed so much since we met...."

Of course we talked about "my" rules and the day I hear a real valid argument for that "Contract of love" I might change my opinion (Visa or other legal stuff don't count for me as it has nothing to do with trust and care)

Shouldn't "love" be something pretty personal between 2 people (or more when there are kids) defined by their trust, care and understanding to each other...

Sorry, for that I definitely don't need a government law and other regulations which tell me what I am allowed to do and what not, verified with some signatures on a "contract of love".

So getting back to your original question... If my partner suddenly demands a marriage as a proof of love, she did not understand the general concept of love. Therefore it would not be the person i want to spend my life with anyway...

Interesting tread in all the different aspects and as dangerous as a mine field to step in...

I'd say when I was 20 I'd agree most of the message of rhoody but now that I'm double I admit it'll be less easy to set a rule so clear, as black and white faded more to different levels of grey.
For example now I would not be able to match the two sentences above quoted, without feeling something striking, and sure I used to think the same...

It comes down to a more complex analysis of what is the meanings of relationship, commitment, care and love if we want too.

And now I have to leave :D not the moment for it

But at least have to say sure I agree 100% with Rhoody it is not the marriage, the contract or anything else outside our own commitment and will, to make meaning in the life of a relationship. But the way we choose to commit might be different.

Personally i believe that if a women gives her heart, mind, and body to you...and you accept it....she has every right to demand marriage. But maybe I am an old-fashioned guy?

well, I don't know where your "old fashioned" comes from but if I look back in history old fashioned would be more or less that guys took women and throw them away when not needed or looked for an additional one and / or hold them like slaves on higher standard...

and don't take it too personal as I dont know your history, age and anything, but that is one of the stupidest arguments I ever heard about this topic...

I don't rape her and steel her heart....
the woman want to share that with me from her own will knowing she receives the same from me plus protection more or less security ... that is love on the same level, respecting and being there for each other in good and bad... love don't need a contract...

your argument sounds like a bad trade on a cow market of the 17th century in southern germany.... "I love you , you boomboom me so you marry me..."

but even your "old fanshioned" cow-trade would not give any valid argument for that love-contract...

Hahahaha .... I enjoy reading this but kept shut so far my own personal feelings.
I think everybody has to do whatever THEY (both; man and wife/girlfriend) prefer and there should be no 'YOU HAVE TO" comments from others.
Who are we to judge if another couple wants to do it that way where we ourselves have completely different thoughts ?
    That's arrogant i.m.h.o..
And about Rhoody .........that's exactly the person he is ......old fashioned, with a wife/girlfriend taken at her hair on his back and carrying it to the cave :D
What a wonderful time that must have been for us men

hmmm you scare me... I am like a open book for you...

BTW, that is the reason I am together with Rechel since years... each time I leave my cave I have a SMB in one hand and a cigarette in the other... so no hand free to drag and drop anybody else....
