Shaynesan, You are in the wrong and you must abide by their laws. Sure It's not fair that the locals do it or the Police, but you are the foreignor with the money and no leg to stand on. Do that in the United States and they will impound your vehicle or possibly detain you for long hours for not having a plate. I'm a retired Police officer and had I caught you on my road you would be going to traffic school on probation to get your license back. I think you got off real easy to be honest with you. They could have impounded your bike. My advice to any expat is, NEVER give filipino authorites the excuse to screw with you. Take a crow bar out and pry open your wallet and get mirrors and a plate. The mirrors could save your life. Buy some dam shoes, they will protect your feet riding a bike. I saw a guy wearing slippers burn the side of his foot cause it touched a hot part of his bike and he had to go to the hospital cause his foot had serious burns. His slipper melted. Listen to Garbonzo he is giving you a good peace of advice. Sorry expats to side with the enemy on this one, but they are right.

Safety and being safe should be a "no brainer", not something to skimp on and complain about.

Officer that stopped my husband, unfortunately, saw the cash he had in his money clip. Told my husband "it will cost you 1500 php to get your license back, or you can give me 750 php right now to keep it". Guess which option my husband took? Crooked cops....!! My husband's cousin said you can usually get off by giving them 200 php. If that cop hadn't seen my husband's money, probably would have been much less!!
