I'm 55 yrs. old Fil-Am, military retiree with monthly income of $ 3K. Is TRICARE accepted as far as medical coverage? How's real estate, say 3 bedroom house? Do they have military association i.e VFW, DAV, etc...?
    Thank You

    Hi Sal45evan,
Some of our expats will be able to answer your medical question, with regards to your monthly income I would think you could live quite nicely on that amount, unless you have really expensive taste!
Meanwhile look through the Threads and find out about renting first, before finally deciding about a permanent stay

Hi Sal, Tricare Overseas only meaning you will pay first and then file for re-imbursment. There may be military associations around the Manila area and possibly Cebu. The price of a 3 bedroom house will depend on your taste and requirements. There are many posts on the information you are looking for. Do a search on your subjects and read away. Where you born in the US or PI? Where do you have family?

I can't give you an answer about Tricare, although I think military retirees are able to receive covered medical services at least in the Clark/Angeles area...not sure about the rest of the country.

The price of real estate varies dramatically based on the quality of the house, it's location and the size of the lot. A good contractor, building an almost Western-standard concrete and steel house will run P12,000 to P16,000 per square meter depending on the materials used and your negotiations. This does not include the land. The land cost will vary a great deal based on the location and the lot size. As you get further into things, I suggest asking specific questions about locations and what you desire, I think many here will lend you the benefit of their experience.

    Good luck!

The only ones I am aware of are in Clark/AC and Subic.
