Can anyone tell me if the water in Valencia has a sulfur taste? I am looking at moving there in April and would like to know. Any pros and cons on the area would be welcomed.

I don`t know, but it is quite likely, if ground water is utilized for the water supply, since there are hot sulfuric springs in the mountains not so far from Valencia.

In generel tap water in all of the Philippines is not save for drinking due to microbial pollution. Moreover the tap water in Dumaugete is rumoured to have a high content of arsenic due to geological reasons. And if true this already makes it unsuitable for use as drinking water, even if boiled.

A five gallon / 20 liter bottle of purified drinking water is delivered by several companys to your home for 40 or 45 peso, and this is the solution, that most people with an income above the subsistence level choose.

Fundiver is correct...most people use filtered water. I also drink filtered water, but I have never noticed a sulfur odor from washing hands, etc with Valencia tap water.

    Thanks

    Thanks GURU

I am happy to hear that some areas are clear of the sulfur smell . I use bottled water here in Iligan city also. My wife and i will be visiting in December for a week around the holidays. Looking forward to our visit.

Just for info sake. If anyone is ever thinking of living in Iligan, for get it! The Muslims are too unpredictable. A friend of mine just left the country with his family because they were warned of a possible kidnapping of him self and another American. The warning came from high up in the security force. His wifes family have a contact there.

That is sad to hear. So even with family there, you do not feel it is safe to stay?

    Kidnapping

    Pedro

Even with family here there are no guarantees. I have been here for two years and we have had 5 bombings. The worst was las year during the thanksgiving Chrismass season, we had 6 people killed when they bombed the Unicity store and Jerry's market. They left bombs at the package holding area and at Unicity a 16 year old boy working at the counter died.

The cowards that do these things have no respect for Innocent life, they are the lowest form of scum on the earth as far as i am concerned. If you want to fight the Government fine! But don't hurt Innocent people that have nothing to do with your situation.

We generally get a warning through the grape vine so we stay out of the city until things cool down, but it is no way to live your life, so we are moving!

That is why we are moving out of here as soon as we can afford it. We have obligations that will be up in April, and the Lord willing we will make or move then.

    Dave
