Tugnos is a local fish. I dont know what its name in english but it is quite small. Around 2 mm in diameter to 5 mm in lenght. Very small. They vary but the smaller it is the better for eating it in binakhaw or fried with omelet. And this is good when eaten fresh of course.

But this is good.

 

hmmm i love tugnos. kinilaw or omelet. its been 7 yrs i didnt eat tugnos.

 

2mm x 5mm?!! Might as well eat brine shrimp! :D

 

Mixed with finely chopped green onion, grated young papaya (my grandma add grated coconut) and grated carrot for color, mixed in semi-sweet batter, salt and pepper to taste and deep fried a couple of spoonfull portion each. Serve with spicy hot vinegar, as dipping sauce, hmmm.

Otherwise I'll settle for omelet for breakfast, especially, but good for anytime of the day.

seven years...oh my...i posted this thread since i am seeing nice delicious Dauin variety tugnos in our dgte market these past few days. :D
