    Good day all,

Ronald here from Singapore. Just a little bit about myself. I am on course for my degree now and have a gap all the way till August 2010. I spent some time in Dumaguete city a few weeks back and really liked it.

I will be extremely grateful if anyone knows of any opportunities to work with children in Dumaguete or areas around. I simply love children. Village schools or similar are fine with me. It will be self-funded, so I do not need to be paid, although an allowance will be great.

Thanks in advance for helping me source out such volunteering opportunities or refering me to someone who can. I will be available from mid January.

Merry xmas and cheers everyone! (:

You could try Little Children of the Philippines in Claytown, Daro - Dumaguete City. It's a Christian, non-profit educational agency. If I remember correctly, their phone number is 225-0766. Their parent agency's website is: Little Children of The World | Change Someone's Life Forever

There are two orphanages in Valencia with a lot of orphans who could use your help in whatever is your field.

    Happy Christmas to you Rarity,

Thanks a lot for replying. Can I have more info of the orphanages? Much as I would like to fly down right now, it is rude to the administrators to pop up unannounced without a plan or warning to them and declare my willingness to help them.

    Have you volunteered there before?

    Cheers to the festive season,
    Ronald C.

    Hi Ronald C.

If you would like to visit the BASE school in Amlan and see if you'd want to spend some volunteer time there please let me know. Do make a virtual visit BASE - Balanced Achievement School of Excellence

Your spirit of voluntarism is very refreshing!

    Hello Scrawnyy,
No, I haven't volunteered there but I have seen these kids sing at a birthday party. They were invited by the host as the gifts meant to be given to the birthday celebrant were all given to them per wish of the birthday celebrant. I was amazed to see that there are actually so many of them. I will get the details from a friend who also helps these orphanages and I will give them to you as soon as I have them. WElcome and happy New Year!

    Good day Mam A,

Thanks for the reply. I looked through BASE website but it seemed to be a website built more for parents than volunteers. I did not get the necessary information needed to make a decision. Thanks a lot for referring me there though!

    Merry xmas to you!

    Hi Ronald/Scrawnyy,

You're welcome. The virtual tour was for a view of what the school is about, its VMG and those sort of things. This will be the first time my school will have a volunteer if you were to come in join the force. We have 71 students from EC to 6th grade. This is the first year that we'll have 6th graders moving on to high school. May I ask what type of volunteer job you were envisioning? Thanks for your interest.
    Mam A
