:p Hello everyone!! Happy New Year!! We have been here since July and my husband and our daughter have their dual citizenships and I have my permanent resident card, so now I think it will be easier to sign up for health insurance. I would like to know of your experiences with health insurers here in the Philippines, and more importantly, the ones that would be good to have in Dumaguete. If you can give me an idea of rates and benefits, but I am really interested in personal experiences with the different companies so I can make an educated decision, not just based on rates (cheaper isn't always better). Would you recommend having PhilHealth AND a private insurance?
    Thanks!!
    :D

My sister-in-law just had two lumps removed from her breast at Silliman and her out of pocket expense for the surgery only was 25,000php and she has employer provided Philhealth, you would qualify for dependent coverage so supplemental insurance maybe a good idea if you can afford it but I myself do not believe you get what you pay for with those kind of promises, I mean policies. Keep researching maybe you will find better info than what has been provided to date.

    PhilHealth

Not sure, probably need to ask a PhilHealth representative, but I think with my permanent resident status, and since we will be individually paying members, I think I can get the primary PhilHealth as well as my husband. Our daughter would be signed up as dependent under him. But, I am not sure that PhilHealth is good enough all by itself. Thanks for the info, Pedro!!
