Hello, I'm Lou and I'm planning to visit Dumaguete in February and I'm looking for a hotel that will be quiet at night but centrally located. What I have found so far are : The Palwa, Obdulia's, Nicanor, and Harold's. Are these decent, central, and quiet at night hotels? I'm also open to suggestions. Tks. Lou

I was just in Dgte and spent 2 weeks at Coco Grande. If you get the right room it is quiet. There is a local bar right next to it with a powerful stereo system. It is a 15 M walk to the center of town though so not central. I had a deluxe room for 1320 (approx), large bed nice size room, bathroom nice size, also dining area with table and 4 whicker chairs like an enclosed balcony. There was some kind of work underway so hammering was bothersome from 8 am. They may be finished by Feb. I ate only once in their restaurant and was not impressed.

The only negative was a peeping tom I caught one night looking into my room and bed.
    Enjoy your visit.

Have stayed at Hotel Palwa several times - quiet, great service, most reasonable in every way.

    hotel recommendation

    Hello,
We stayed in Dumaguete a couple of months ago and I can recommend the Niconor Hotel. It is an extremely nice hotel, quiet at night, and there are restaurants within walking distance, as well as the Lee Plaza. The view outside the window isn't anything to brag about, but if you want quiet, then you don't want to be on the Boulevard where there is a nice view. We also stayed at the Bethel House (on the Boulevard)....the room was not very nice, and there is a Karaoke Bar nearby that kept me awake every night until 3 a.m., also there was not much difference in price. Next time we will be staying at the Niconor again.
Have a nice time wherever you stay!!:D

    Lou,
Harold's mansion is a nice place....fairly inexpensive too - something like 600PHP per day....maybe a discount for a months stay...just ask them. Harold is a younger guy and VERY helpfull. He will happily and efficiently set you up for tours, day trips, diving, etc. They have a very small 24X7 cafe with free coffee and 2 pc's with free internet for quests. Rooms are nice, clean, hot showers, some rooms have balconies. Friendly staff.
    Good luck...enjoy your stay.

It's in fairly quiet area, but you'l want a 7 peso tricycle ride to the "center" of town
