    Hello Forum Members,

This would be my first post... I have followed your conversations for several months now, and appreciate very much the practical and at times very elevated level of discourse. My compliments to the management, you have created a great service for all of us. And that is an understatement.
I am your typical member in that I am married with children to a Filipina, currently living in Siquijor. My wife wishes to complete her nursing studies in Cebu. My interests are more local, making sure the kids are well educated and cared for, and getting involved with creating and operating small businesses. I still have significant responsibilities in the US, so that is limiting my time here. This all would not be possible without the help of her wonderful family, in that we have 4 children, all less than 10 years old.
I don't have too much else to say at the moment. It's a pleasure to be a part of this community. Thanks, Norm Seubert

Not only are you a gentleman, but you are brave! Posting your real name (at least, I presume it's your real name...hehehe) on an anonymous internet forum!

Thank you Sirs, for the welcomes! I'm still in the learning phase here, just kind of observing and taking notes for a while, so probably won't be posting much...

    Follow up

    D.R.,

Not sure if I would call myself brave, maybe naive, about using my real name. My old fashioned thinking is when I introduce myself, I say my name, shake hands, say "nice to meet you." I don't plan on saying anything offensive or personal here on the site. It is easy to be misinterpreted on the web, people get insulted, without there being that intention, I notice, in a lot of cases. The web is best for exchanging information, observations, and facts, and facilitating friendships. "Real" conversation should be reserved for face to face situations. But I must admit that there is entertainment value in some of the heated discussions that sometimes occur!

Cool place to be with the international community of Dumaguete Aficianodos in cyperspace.
Lots of comparaderie, a pioneer spirit. Thankfully in English, my only language. (I am a country bumpkin from a small town in Oregon.) Curious about membership--going on 4000 members? How does that break down by nationality? I am quessing lots from USA, Europe, australia, maybe in that order. what about the lesser known nationalities?

    You mean the Filipinos?....:D
Just kidding, welcome to the forum Norm.

So after your wife completes her nursing studies, are you heading back Stateside? She's not going to make a good living in the Phillipines, as a nurse. Doctors are even going back to school to be nurses so they can go abroad, US especially.
