⌛ Question about tricycles in Dumaguete

I've told my wife, about reading that the going rate for a short tricycle ride in Dumaguete is 7 pesos.

She says that's only if you wait for other people to ride with you.

Here in Manila, you can get a short trip tricycle ride for 7 pesos, but that's only if you wait until there are 5 people piled up in, on, and or, hanging off the side.

The cheapest Rate I've ever seen my wife get is 30 pesos.

Me being a foreigner in Ermita, the tricycles usually try to charge me 100, sometimes 200 pesos just to go a few blocks. Pretty funny, when I could catch a taxi, for 35 pesos.


Anyway, my question is this:


Is it true, that a single person can get a short tricycle ride for 7 pesos in Dumaguete?

 

Yes, not at the market, but if a trike goes empty downtown. they give you a 7 peso ride to the market. if you wanna go somewhere else they charge more.

also depending on the daytime, when the shops are closing you won't be able to get a "solo-ride" for 7 peso

 

I must say, I'm looking forward to my first 7 peso tricycle ride. I'll gladly pay 10 pesos, and just be happy to be quoted the low price.

 

Yes, but. Driver can pick up other passengers along the way and go to their destination(s) first. Driver can wait a bit for more passengers. That almost always happens at a place where trikes get in line like at public market or Lee Plaza. If you pay with exact change it will cost P 7, give him more and getting change is sometimes interesting.
