    Hi all,
Just want to ask a question..........yesterday I had to send a 1 page document from here (Manila) to Texas, USA via Fed Ex and was a little surprised that it cost $32 USD (1500 php). I was expecting MAYBE $20, but not $32. But, I am not sure what the rates are here.....has anyone here had any dealings with Fed Ex and does this sound about right? Just curious!! I never know if I am being take advantage of or not. Just like last week I had to pick a package up at the post office that had been sent from California and I had to pay 3000 php in taxes (this was for home-schooling materials for my daughter).....then they had the nerve to ask me for another 65 php!! I said, "no", I just gave you 3000 php!! And they didn't ask again.......made me wonder if they took me to the cleaners.......like I said, I don't know what is usual and customary here.
    Thanks!
    Marie

I typically pay about P1,250 to FedEx docs to the US. That may not sound like a bargain, but they charge more to ship the other direction (US to Phils).

I noticed when I lived in Cebu that the price did vary a little depending on the agent I used to ship...maybe your agent charges higher "handling" fees. The cheapest one I found in Cebu City might have been slightly cheaper than here in DGT but it wasn't much different.

Of course, the prices are really in US$ and converted to peso, so they will fluctuate in accordance with the USD/PHP rate.

As a side note: LBC claims to charge slightly less than FedEx for international envelopes, but their service is abominable. Avoid them.

DHL's rates are competitive for packages, however I have no personal experience with them.

DHL is the only way to go, have tried Aramex, LBC etc ,, if you want cheap cost and decent service then DHL is it.. I have lived here for 27 years, ask me how i know..

Use DHL. There is a DHL office here in Dumaguete, and they try hard to get you the best rate.

    Thanks!!

We passed by a DHL office and I told my husband we could go there, but we proceeded to the Fed Ex office down the street. Next time I will know to use DHL. I guess at least I know I probably was charged pretty much appropriately for Fed Ex charges. For a one page document, that was a lot...I would hate to have to be sending an entire book or a box!! Anyway, thanks again, I always know I can get the low-down from you people!!

You could send a book for the same rate as the single page. As I recall the rate is based on the size of the package up to a maximum weight.

DHL no longer accepts packages here in the states but they do deliver here. It cost me $50.00 plus last time I send documents FedEX from the states to Dumaguete.

Marie, how long did FedEx say it would take to deliver to the U.S.? For those that have used DHL, how long is their delivery time to U.S.? I haven't shipped anything from DGT yet, but I'm sure I will need to do so.

    Hi Sue,
We shipped on Saturday and they said it will arrive Tuesday, which is just like the states....will let you know!! Yes, I would be interested in knowing the delivery times of DHL also if anyone knows.
