You are very right culumbinos but rusty here too is very a Dumagueteña, too! She's got a GENTLE heart; not a Braveheart.

We must not forget that 15-20 years ago we have limited access to the media. So we did not hear much about the crimes then.

I myself, the only thing I don't like when I am home in Dumaguete is the traffic and these rude drivers who don't care to stop even on pedestrian lanes. And oh yes, that is even with the presence of a Traffic Officer (who just stand there and does nothing)!

well, we call that change. when i am here, i still see the outlines of park theater even if unitop stands in its place. we did not have abusive pedicab drivers forty years ago. but politicians know too well that one pedicab driver is worth 10 to 20 votes, if you count the relatives. the majority of these ungentle drivers are not dumaguetenos. BUT, dumaguete remains dumaguete to those who grew up here..regardless of the change. it does not need a braveheart to retire here....just a heart.

I agree with culumbinus that if you grew up and schooled here in Dumaguete, you must be, more or less, familiar of the place... peaceful though was not really the same some 20 years ago... that's expected since this city is fast becoming highly urbanized... Why will you have a second thought? Then don't come!

Since Dumaguete is identified as a favorable RETIREMENT HAVEN FOR FOREIGNERS, then it follows that its properties become expensive!

you said you grew up here and was educated here...BUT you are having second thoughts of coming back...THEN DON'T...real dumaguetenos and dumaguetenas never question the thought of coming back. ...

People just express their concern about their safety and security, your comment is not helping.
