    Hey EJ
You're right about the coconuts, besides, I don't like coconuts. I think Valencia is more of a bedroom community anyway.
    Thanks for the insight.
    Heinz.

    Another thought!!

You could put an internet cafe inside the skating rink, so the adults that are there with their kids have something to do!!:smile:

It sounds to me that you know it all very well and don't need our input anymore.
I learned during my Marketing study also about the 4 P's and S.
Does it mean that knowing that, I will be(come) a successful business man ?
So many did try it here and failed.
And they all did not know about the keys to success ?
They were surely not innovative enough and should have let another pull out the plug after having sold the biz to him/her :D
I wish you honestly success but too many have had their business plans failing here.
They were certainly not all stupid (I know some of them) but doing business here is a LITTLE BIT different.
But you will learn by doing as so many others did (doing !!!):D
Sorry, I forgot .... they were of course less innovative.

Interesting to see that two people who have not the slightest clue about Dumaguete and the people here know just everything.
if your good feeling is the same like the feeling with your "Business woman" you met on a website .... Good Luck ... you will need all of it and that ain't be enough.

A suggestion to the two of you. Come here first and read your own posts after 3 month observing people and economy in Dumaguete. you will find out how unrealistic and funny your posts are.

How about employing 20 girls, registering them on websites and let them spread around business ideas asking for start-up capital from early retirees. This thread shows that there is huge potential in that.

well, also that is not a new idea and I know (of course only from hearing) that this business is doing millions per day and there are "offices" set up with 60 plus "chat-girls" in certain cities.... if that is legal is a different question...

I can't help myself but somehow this thread reminds me big time on a member called "Franko" who knew everything before putting a foot on the ground here in Duma and went from "Gold found in Dumaguete" to "everything cheap for sale" in about 3 month.

anyway, we had no "50 pairs of used roller-blades - all sizes" in classifieds yet, so at least it will provide us new keywords for search engines...

    Hi Marie.
Absolutely you'll be working there! just one condition, will YOU do the Mexican Food? ha, ha! I am having someone check it out as we speak. She is used to doing business there as she has had one there until her husband died about a year ago. She has a lot of moxxy and won awards. I googled her and what she was telling me is true, besides, I'm interested in her. Who knows? She has a beautiful home in Valencia, Masters degree in business, 50 years old, beautiful and intelligent, an ideal woman if you ask me!
I just love all of this negativity on this forum, don't you? I still don't know why these pessimistic people still live there, beer must be good! ha,ha! Will be fun rubbing their noses in it! Hey people! what DO YOU DO THERE BESIDES DRINKING BEER AND BEING PESSIMISTIC??? Sure would like to know! anything my friend in Duma can check out? she knows a lot of people, ha, ha.
Anyway Marie, we'll see what developes, nothing ventured, nothing gained! By the way guys, I CAN AFFORD to lose some money, have in the past and probably will again in the future. On the other hand, I also have made a bundle, not coming over for business reasons, just want something to do when I come back from exploring the islands in my Cat.
Take care Marie, hope to hear from you soon again.
    Heinz

Reedee, my wife and I had a Mexican Restaurant here. It is not really feasible. Quality ingredients are not readily available. The meat sucks, the cheese is a joke, there is very little of the proper vegies like jalapenos and cilantro, and one must import some key ingredients, such as masa.

By the time it is all said and done, one must charge P400 for a simple "authentic burrito".

Rhoody is right, there are not that many people willing to pay that kind of money for a burrito, when it would cost them a buck fifty back home.

    Just my opinion.

Restaurantouring is a high stress vocation..., not for dabblers nor the faint of heart.

Heinz, you're trolling. A true business man always practices 'due dilligence' as second nature.

One walk down the boulevard with an eye will see alot of empty tops any nite of the week.

Look closer, and see where the steady trade is....

You don't know this 'cause YOU'VE NEVER BEEN HERE.

You just bla bla 'bout your internet honey --dude you have no idea, a babe in the woods.

The regular posters here..., are the most helpful and honest people to be found on the internet.

    ---even Yabs.

    You're just blowing smoke sunshine.
