    Hi !

You might want to wait for your daughter to get settled in Tanjay before you plan your activities. If you want to stay a few days in Tanjay, there are two hotels here and a pension house, It is also possible that your daughters church members would provide housing for you. Tanjay people are very hospitable and they might just do that.

This is not a tourist town, and maybe too laid back for you , but we are a fun loving people and you may experience real provincial life here.

Our friends who have come and visited Tanjay have enjoyed their stay here and hopefully you will too.

Arond 6 more weeks to go!

Thanks Felisa girl and everyone for the info offered so far.

Krystal will be heading to Tanjay on Tuesday and is very excited to meet and help the people there through a local church and the work they do. She mentioned us staying in Cebu but it looks very exspensive and ritzy and very touristy..

We are pretty laid back people and quiet, we do not do bar scenes and do like quiet locations but want to experience as much as possible as this is a once in a lifetime trip for us. Dave's hearing is not great so noisy places really make his ears ring that is why we don't do bars, dance places and concerts.

This is the only vacation I will have for a year and want to enjoy every second without coming home to exhausted but also do not want any regrets of missing anything..I love people and getting to know them and their lifestyle.

Krystal is in Manila until Tuesday learning some history, language and lifestyle of the people in hopes of being able to be more helpful..

I am so confused on where to stay .. WOuld love a high class resort but really can't afford it and do not want to be in the tourist mainstream as I lived in a tourist town for years and even though I will be a tourist we really want to experience the real Philippines as well as the tourist sides.

So please keep the info coming and feel free to email me at pontusas@hotmail.com

Our plans are to travel either the week of March 10/11 or the following one and stay 2 weeks.

    Be safe all!

    Marion

    Hi Marion,

I usually do my walking exercise around the plaza in front of the UCCP chruch.I may see your daughter around. Unless you want to see Cebu, you might be better off flying to Dumaguete from Manila. There are 4 flights daily.

If your daughter feels Tanjay would suit you for a few days , Don Atilano Hotel maybe a good place for you. You can just walk around town from there and is very close to your daughters church. Their rates would be about between 20 to 30 dollars. I will verify that and let you know if you are interested.

Our friends from Manila like visiting here because it gives them the feel of real provincial life. It is not touristy, it is the real thing.

We won't be around when you come, as we are scheduled to go to Manila. I am sure though that your daughters host will be able to help you Tanjay is a very safe place.

    Good luck,

    Felisa

Felisa reminded me what a nice, charming town Tanjay is:

"....Our friends from Manila like visiting here because it gives them the feel of real provincial life. It is not touristy, it is the real thing...."

So true, the Plaza is perfect on warm evenings --live bands play at the gazebo weekends..., ballroom dancing on Thursday nite still?

For a laid-back 2 week holiday, Tanjay is fine.

Day trip to Bais, the next town down. Overnite trip to Duma for the big city..., lots to do and see.

    good luck!,

    chris

The only place I know for sure that has a pool is Santa Monica Resort. There's probably a lot of other places here which have pools, but that's just the only place I have been to and looked at the pool. It's out of the city but not by far. A trike ride from there is probably like ten minutes or less.

Harold's Mansion is in the city, but you will have to take a trike to get downtown.

Both locations have websites, you can Google them to look them up. Sorry, I'm lazy.

    Getting Excited!

    Felisa,

Thanks once again for the info. It's to bad we will miss you there when we arrive. How long are you in Manila for?
It's nice to chat with someone who lives near where Krystal will be staying and can give us some info on where to stay and so on.
We are thinking we will stay in Dumaguate and spend a few days to a week in Tanjay. We will decide as we investigate more and as we see how Krystal is doing and if she can also recommend for us what we should expect and do while there.

Everyone here has been so kind and Helpful which is making us very excited to experience your country and it's people and culture. Here in Calgary Canada we are friendly but often are so wrapped up in our lives we appear less warm and kind then we really are.

Everyone please feel free to keep sharing info no matter what it is as t really helps us prepare and understand what we can expect while there.

    Thank you so much!

    Marion
