I dropped a SMB and cut my foot when wearing slippers/thongs. Needed a few stitches and then it got infected. I took different antibiotics and it kept getting worse and eventually I had to go back to aussie to get it sorted. Cost me $2000 aussie including airfares by the time I got back. My mate had a similar experience riding a motorbike with slippers/thongs or whatever they are called. Mangled his foot and had extensive hospital treatment in aussie. Both of us always wear shoes now when partying or motorbike riding in the Phils.

Last year my wife's cousin was working on a construction site wearing his slippers and stepped on a nail. Three months later he died of tetanus leaving a huge hospital bill and a wife and young family.

You can complain that some joints will refuse entry for no shoes but really it's just common sense.

Common sense for in a building/construction site but not in a bar where their main purpose is to scare away poor one-bottle-beer drinking tricycle drivers.

    no slippers and sleeveless shirts

The reason why they don't want people wearing slippers cause of stinky feet. It's a real bad feeling when your sitting at a bar having a nice cold beer, and someone sits next to you with stinky athletes foott odor or someone with a sleeveless shirt with bad BO smell. Some people don't know how to use foot powder and deodorant. I remember when some trike drivers came in for a beer and man, they drove me out of the place humming.

I hope trike drivers are not not singled out in dumaguete pubs. We just have to observe the dress code of the place?

WOW - thank you for putting into the right words! This is the most righteous and a justified way of banning them (no, not the trike drivers but the sleeveless shirts and the slippers).

    Thanks.

Why would they be specifically singled out? If they don't buy their 'round', I'd imagine they definitely would be 'singled out', same as any other 'tight bar-steward' is, who isn't? What do you think we are 'down here', 'easy and unobservant'?:D

Barefeet in a bar that serves drinks in glasses is risking liability as well as the health authorities.

I like disco but I have doubt that why not is not a good place for me to hang out anymore. I am coming home very soon so i'm a bit worried if I can still go to why not? I heard alot of feedbacks about that place.:(

Sounds like the health care is not very good there.
I am in my 70's and not the picture of health, would I be taking my life in my hands if I moved to Duma?
