I will be leaving Australia to live in Dumaguete at the end of this year.

I have a 12 year old daughter who is a Filipina and speaks Tagalog tho she is a little rusty now having been in Australia for 4 years.

Has anyone had any experiences with a high school in Dumaguete, either with their kids or know someone who has kids at school there.

I would like to know what is the best school to send my daughter. I have read some comments on this forum regarding Dumaguete schools but there was not too much constructive information more argumentive personal opinions about corruption.

    Any comments would be welcomed.

Silliman University is one of the reputable schools in Dumaguete so you might consider that in your list. Though I can't put much detail into it since I did not go there during my high school days. One reason is it is a protestant school, my parents are particular with the religious teachings in a certain school hence they enrolled me in Saint Louis School of Don Bosco which is a catholic school administered by the Salesians of Don Bosco.

These are the schools I suggest you check out when you are here in Dumaguete.

    1. Silliman University
    2. Saint Louis School of Don Bosco
    3. Saint Pauls University

I don't think there is a bottom line best elementary or high school in Dumaguete. The best one for your daughter might not be the best one for reedee's daughter or bikerdave's daughter, etc. I think their is little doubt that Silliman is the premier University in the city, but I don't know if that necessarily applies to its elementary and high schools. Most of the private schools are similarly priced and the best one for your daughter may depend on things like your values (Catholic or Protestant school, etc), your daughters interests and strengths/weaknesses.

We have decided to try to get our daughter into Silliman for several reasons, one of them is the good reputation it seems to have, another thing is that without the required religion classes that will be less studies my daughter needs to worry about (her dad is very capable of keeping her religious studies current at home), also I hear it is all air conditioned, so much more comfortable which makes it more conducive to learning. Anyway, if Silliman doesn't work out, we will go try for St. Paul's, which also has a very good reputation.
Thanks to everyone for their input!!

I only know what I have been told here, which is 20k plus (uniforms, etc...), but we haven't spoken with the school yet. I will let you know once we do that, however, I am sure some people here who already have kids enrolled at Silliman can answer better than I can at this point. Good Luck!
