Aside from Great Domestic, Superior, Commonwealth & Prudential Insurance, can anyone please provide me with additional names, address's of reputable-reliable Auto Insurance Agents here in Dumaguete? Much appreciated, Jerry
Without being too cynical...might be better to ask which company (or companies - just in case there has been more than one) actually paid on an expat claim...
Thus far, Prudential's quoted Premium is 3,800 Pesos less than anyone else thus far for the same identical coverage.
What kind of coverage are you getting? I have only the basic, but it is dirt cheap...P777 per year...Great Domestic.
Like many other things in this country and elsewhere, with insurance you get what you pay for. Buy cheap, don't expect anything other than a piece of paper, acceptable to the LTO for admin purposes. (For a new pickup, fully comprehensive is around P30-35k/year, or about US$760 or UKP507, which is not bad price, compared to Europe, source: - Standard Insurance)
Thank you for your input. I have a quote from Prudential for just over 15,000 Pesos! I have had the same policy (renewal) quoted recently for as much as 23,000 Pesos. Thanks again for your input.
@ derivative guru. Is the price you quoted for auto insurance per year or household cover per year and with which company. If it is auto cover - is it for 3rd party, accident and theft? @ jerrygreen. The qoute from Prudential for Php15000 - is that just for auto insurance and is that for the year or per month? Can anyone give me the name of a good household cover insurance agent? And do expats have a problem getting comprehensive auto and household insurance cover and pay out there? Many thank Elaine & Danny
The auto coverage I was referring too was the basic required by law. I think it covers medical liability up to P100,000 and something like P10,000 per person in your vehicle. No coverage for theft, collision, etc. The company is called Great Domestic. I remember reading a thread a few years ago on another forum where their were many complaints about slow or outright non-payment by insurers in the Philippines. (I mean, sure you can sue them...and stay in court for a decade...) It dissuaded me from pursuing any more extensive coverage.
Thanks for the info. Is that per month or per year? And any ideas on household insurance? None of this is dissuading me from returning yet LOL Have a great day
