I know this quesion has been asked several times before and its redundant, but what would be considered as the cost of living there. My wife and I are seroiusly considering pulling our stakes here in Florida and moving there. We were thinking maybe Siaton or Valensia. I'm looking for the average rent of a 3bedroom moderate scale.

That is a hard question to answer. I have found that rents vary widely depending on the location of the house and one's ability to negotiate. Siaton would be much cheaper than Valencia. Its also much further away from the city.

This will be a wide range...but, I think it's accurate...if you negoiate well and find a good deal, you could pay as little as P5,000 per month. If you get a little nicer place and negotiate poorly, you could pay as much as P30,000 per month. I have not heard of anyone in the Dumaguete area paying more than P30,000 per month...sometimes people ask more for their houses, but I have never heard of anyone actually getting them rented for more than that.

    Hope that helps!

    Valancia y Siaton

Valencia will be cheap. Siaton will be "dirt" cheap.

Siaton is nice especially lake ballanan.
However, it is much too remote imho.

average housing rent (looking at your requirements of 3 bedrooms) is about 12,000-20,000 pesos per month depending on the location.. but you have to consider electricity bills and water bills.. depending on your usage and location electricity could go from 1000+ to 3000+ for an average house.

but one thing is for sure, living here is far cheaper than anywhere in the US.. this morning, US dollar conversion is 45.25..
