Good day to all! I'm a new member to the Dumaguete Forum, and I'm looking forward to meeting members. My wife (Erlinda) was born in Negros Oriental, and we are making plans to retire in/near Dumaguete. I'm very excited about moving there, and looking forward to meeting folks from there. From what I was able to gather so far, I believe our move to Dumaguete will be the right move. Hope to learn more about the area, and hope to hear from other members.

    Welcome,

There are some more people here from Phoenix or near to that.
So if you're feeling lonesome you can find their company :D
I'm sure that won't be needed with all these forum members around you here
Donald and Erlinda ..... when will you implement your plans to retire here ?
In 20 years from now or this year  ?

    Welcome

    Welcome to the forum Donald,

You will love the Dumaguete area, just be careful if you intend to purchase property here as most of the old timers will tell you to rent for awhile before you make the decision to purchase and/or build.

Thank you for the welcome message and advice (jellyfish/muuddyfeet), I truly appreciate your comments. Erlinda and I are hoping to move to Dumaguete in about 5 to 8 years from now. That is when I plan to retire from my job here. One of my concerns about the move involves getting rid of my property here in Phoenix. Even if I take a major loss, I'm pretty sure that it will be well worth it in the end. As for the renting of property versus buying property, that sounds like the best advice, thanks. I look forward to talking to you again.
