It hass been about 4 years since I have been to the area and I am sorta wondering if prices have sky rocketed up or if they have stayed about the same or not on items like clothes, accessorys, and food?

    Thanks.

And the peso has been on a tear lately. Currency fluctuations can hit hard and fast.

The exchange rate - is there only one??

I come from Australia, and the exchange rate is just fine and will probably only get better.

Yes the aussie dollar is doing great! But since most of the philippine economy(inflation) is tied in with the us dollar, prices go up and you arent getting as much for your aussie dollars as you could

True...it probably will continue to get better....and US Dollar much worse.

I hold mostly gold...prices of goods here in the Philippines relative to the price of gold are down about 60%. So, all looks good from this perspective. :-)

I stand corrected as I didn't state what rate I would be exchanging as some other types of currencies are showing being more favorable than others. I will be trading USD which has seen better days. I remember during my last visit 4 or 5 years ago I was getting around 55PH per 1USD looking at the rates now they are around 45PH per 1USD so I am figuring it would be safe to assume that my costs for this upcoming visit will have increased by about 20 to 25% compared to my last visit.
