How are prices on things these days?

    There has been some inflation in the peso prices as well. I think you can assume that the peso price is 20 to 25% higher and your US Dollars are buying 25% or so less than they did 5 years ago.

    Also keep in mind that due to high inflation in the PI, that same peso now affords only about 60 to 65% buying power as opposed to 5 years ago....after factoring in the devaluation of USD, we're really looking at cost of goods increase of 55% or more for those of us living on USD income.

    I apologise if my intent wasn't clear. I didn't intend to gloat over the relative strengths or the $AU and the $US. I was just having a "tongue in cheek" dig
    at the tendency of Americans to talk as if the world revolves around all things American. Its the Australian sense of humour!

    As for the $US exchange rate, I realise that many American expats must be hurting, and I sincerely sympathise with them.

    I think you will find that not only are your US$ bringing less but the peso prices are also going up. It's a 2 way squeeze.
