its cheaper to buy directly from manila than in dumaguete..they don't have any good computer stores there..for the service, try them out..dnt think there is a good service center there..might as well go to cebu or bacolod..

It all depends for what you are going to use your computer.
But an Intel dual core 2,6 with 2gb memory, a 160 gb HDD and a DVD+/-RW, mouse, keyboard speakers and windows Vista seems good enough for me just for internet and some small office work.
This just costs 15,580 pesos (monitor not included) at Micro Valley (corner Perdices/Locsin)
The same configuration with 15,6 LCD monitor, computer table and Canon Pixma 3in1 printer for just 24,925 pesos.
This price was 4 months ago so maybe the price went down since than.

The service for Micro Valley is done by Octagon that has also a store in SM Cebu.
In fact both stores (Micro Valley and Octagon are the same company)
If you buy a computer In Manila and it needs repair you certainly will pay more on transportation than the total cost of repair in Dumaguete especialy for a basic compoter.

If you take any package price from this shops to ace-logic you should get a better price as long you talk to Carlos.

The shop technicians in all shops are pretty crappy, there are some good freelancers around.

The most important computer-feature for a woman in the PI is that they get electrocuted as soon they click "yes" on any download-pop-up, opening email-attachments, if I think twice, actually getting electrocuted when pressing the start-button to witch it on would be even better.
It works fantastic on my station, My "on" switch is broken and I need to bridge the cable... Rechel can't switch my station on without getting electrocuted, since that day I had no issues anymore with finding weird downloaded stuff on it.... and I won't tell her how to avoid the electroshock

I do very rarely some maintenance (the polite word...). 90 % are from girls netbooks, many times it is either because of downloading the "new amazing smileys/environment for your chat" or open zip-attachments cause the Facebook/Yahoo/Friendster password need a reset....

Virus Scan, Updating... what is that ??? "They virus-scan won't allow me to install that cute smileys, so I ignored the warning/switched it off" ... heard more than one time ...

There are so many wonderful things women can do... dealing in a responsible way with anything electrical or mechanical is none of it ...

Ace-logic certainly has one (or more?) good technician.
But the store has no display of complete computersets.
If you go there you must know what you want, you must know what the price of the competition is and perhaps know a lot of computers.
For instance they may sell you an AMD processor instead of an INTEL if you don't know the difference.
But sure, if you are technicaly well prepared you might get a better deal.

Also be aware of the MANY extras, like software! It seems that there is always an extra charge for the O/S!

You are a fast learner, Rhoody, when it comes to the internet, computers and women! :D

yup, ACE is a shop you should know what you want.

But if you don't know the difference of the processors, you would most likely not need the more expensive one ... and AMD will do for normal video pictures and games

@roverman: what new shops are you referring too? Perhaps I have missed them.

My best experience with service has been Algorithm. Not perfect, but pretty good.

As far as buying a system, I have always found the best prices to be in Manila or overseas.
