Just a couple more days and I will be starting my retirement in Dumaguete . I will arrive this Friday, 28th May, and of course the first thing I must do is to find somewhere to rent, so if anyone has any info on that, would be pleased to hear about it. In or around Dumaguete, unfurnished, circa 6 - 8K. I would also like to meet like minded people for a beer who can give me the low down on the city, places that are popular and places/people to be aware of. I can be found at Happy Fred's late afternoons if anyone wants to drop by for a chat.
Really looking forward to starting my new life in Dumaguete, the city of gentle people.

    Phil.

Surely you could find a better place to start a new life in Dumaguete than Happy Fred's!

    JB

Thank you very much JB, very kind of you to say so

By the way, I was born not too far away from the Wirral, place called Holllingworth in Cheshire.

Have a nice day, Phil. (real name).

Hi never heard of happy freds!!

I have looked on the map, and cannot find it ?
I bet you are looking forward to your retirement, and i too am looking to rent a house. That is why i am arriving next Saturday to find a place.
Nice to hear you are from Cheshire, as some of my family live in Wilmslow and Handforth, not far i think ?

Anyway we might bump into each other, during my visit.

    Well best of Luck Diane:D

Haha, if you are looking for like minded people and hanging out at Happy Fred's then I'm not sure you need to look any further. All your like minded people are already there. Maybe for bonus round you could go to Black Pearl.

I'm not bagging on either place though. I'm also at Happy Fred's and Black Pearl for drinks more often than any other place here.

Bonus Bonus: Check out Biker Dave's place (Private Garden) and try his burgers.

    Gems!!

Happy Fred's is on the Blvd, anyone will tell you where that is. The Black Pearl is on the highway leading out of Dumaguete south. They are both just local hang outs, mainly frequented by ex pats. I haven't been to the Black Pearl, so I can't comment on that. But you need to drop into Happy Fred's and meet a few local ex pats if you intend to live here.

    Phil.

well, I can tell you quite frank that there is absolute no need to meet those expats at the boulevard if you wanna know anything about Dumaguete and living here.

for a beer or two maybe if you like skinhead-type noisy retired hooligans.. well somehow there need to be a place for those kind of brits too .. hehe
