About brownouts and unreliable internet Dumaguete is not worse than the rest of the country.
    It is a national poblem.
The name "brownout" is a Philippino invention based on the frequency of what in most country's is called blackout once in a lifetime.

Sorry about that my husband is to b lame for that one he is the one with the Brown nose at the moment along with his red face. So lets get it straight it is called Brownout.
Also i forgot to mention my friend suggested, that a generator is handy to have in some areas. On a good day what would you say is the most MB you can expect to get ?
    Cheers Di

A small generator is certainly handy but you have to keep in mind that it will consume around 1 liter gasoline/hour or 50 pesos/ hour while Noreco will cost you around 6 pesos.
(assumed you have a generator of 1,000 watt and also consume 1,000 wat/ hour with Noreco)

    Hi Naropa,

I have lived in Sibulan for several years and the power situation is similar to Dumaguete. Sometimes the whole area is shut down for Sunday maintenance and occasional unscheduled problems. I only remember one time after a bad storm it off for two day's. And a few nights ago it went off at 4Am. and lasted till around 4Pm. but that isn't too common. Of course after saying that, look out for a long one!!! Haa Haa.

I use Smart Bro for home use, it has been mostly fine, (fantastic compared to what was available a few years ago).

    Hope this helps. Ron

Thanks For the replys up to now, they have been very helpful for me. That does not seem to bad, we do have similar here but not as bad Smart Bro seems to be a best option as you said.
    Thanks Di
