    Good afternoon.
When I came here the first of January, I purchased a round trip ticket from Houston to Lumbia Airport for $2,177.00. After I arrived, I applied for a refund for the return portion and was denied, I think because of time.
However, I have talked to several men who have said they got a round-trip ticket for about $800.00 or less.
It looks like I am going to have to return to the US for about 90 days, and I would sure appreciate any hints as to where to find those prices.
    Thanks,
    Ron

    Just keep checking the internet
Are you living here now? The reason you may not have gotten a refund is because the airline is responsible for your return if they don't let you into the country.

I got round it because I had a retirement visa in Thailand.

so I was buying my tickets round trip from Bangkok and back.

In almost 6 years Ive never been asked to see a return ticket at immigration only at the airport in the US wanting me to buy a return ticket.

Also prices will depend on when you travel Dec and July being the most expensive and how far you buy a ticket in advance

    Airfares have gone up recently.
Flights from Cagayan de Oro to Houston for 800 $ don't exist.
From Manila to Houston valid for 90 days count on 1,200 $ or more.
From Hong Kong to Houston around 1,000 $
    just google or look here:

I have seen $800 roundtrip tickets from LA to Manila on PAL but that was more than two years ago. Generally the more in advance you purchase a ticket the cheaper it will be. Also when stateside good deals can be gotten from the smaller travel agencies specializing in Asia travel but of course that does not do you much good in your current situation.

Right now is a bad time for good airfares. I have never paid more than $800 R/T from western US. Most of my flights have been in the $500 to $700 range.

I just did a search on Delta Air Lines - Airline Tickets and Airfare to Worldwide Destinations. Departure date July 14, return October 13, Manila/Seattle, round trip. Price $1142 + $292 tax total 1494. I only did ONE search.

Try doing a google search for "Philippine ticket consolidators". Consolidators buy in huge bulk in advance and get great pricing, then resell at sometimes much less than you can buy anywhere else, including booking direct to the airlines.

Fly on Tuesday through Thursday, and try going one day forward or backward. Sometimes one day can make hundreds of dollars difference.

    Ron,

The ticket you purchased may still be valid. Contact the airline or ticket agent that sold the ticket and try to reschedule. Of course you would need to purchase another round trip ticket back to PI for the return flight.

the price is always higher if flight goes to other than Manila in pilippines and over 2000 dollars is the norm for the airlines that dont specialize in pilippines desde or are just always expensive,,West coast flights from LA are where its at. Deals out of houston to LA are very possible and then from LA to pilippines is already proven by firefly report above..Vegas is also deal central but ranks just behind LA deals. Fly into Manila and then fly PAL or Cebu air to where ever..Hawaiian airlines from hawaii flys a non stop to manila 4 times a week and thats what I fly.I book a round trip for 800 dollars or now up to 1200 dollars and when i try for a one way, the price comes back same as two way. I suspect that one way tickets are not sold to pilippines from the US.?? The flight from hawaii to manila on hawaiian airlines is the cheapest international flight hawaiian air line offers, inquire this about other airlines if you go other airline,..

dont forget that pilippines requirement is that foriegners show up with a return ticket so I think the airlines sell the tickets according to this policy to not aid any traveler trying to expat illegally and of course the airline profits from this law so it seems that they make the two way ticket thier in house policy too?

 I agree with this, Although my trip is UK/PH the same rules apply, Although I live here now I am on a multi entry 16a it is still a requirement for entry that you have a return Ticket, I too have never been asked at immigration for sight of the ticket, UK/EEC Airports will not let you Fly without. I get the impression that the ticket may still be valid if in the Airline time frame, this again I have never tried to obtain a Refund. I guess it could be correct that Airlines use this ruling to their Advantage. Can't help on the fare cost though.
