I've been wanting to sign up on Dumaguete forums, but logging into cafe periodically to check updates? I guess, maybe later. Until, a dear Aunt of Mine remembered. Her younger sister (of course, also an aunt) called up one afternoon, telling me that she is waiting at my parent's house to show me "...imo stamstop!" Well, after having been employed for the BPO industry for years and being coached many times about active listening, but that was what's very clear on my ear drums, 'STAMPTOP'. I went ahead and sent her an SMS saying that I'll be right over.

I removed my Islander slippers, went to the leaving room, and shook her hand. Not the usual meeting with an elderly. I'm supposed to 'kiss her hand' as Filipino tradition teaches. But this case maybe is an exception since she is only about three years older then me. She pointed to a package wrapped with brown paper and many rounds of packing tape, seated at the corner set. "Para na imo", she marked as she pointed to it.

    "Where does it come from?"

    "Abu Dhabi!"

Abu Dhabi? It looks more like a package from the barrios than one from Abu Dhabi.

The kitchen knife cut through the pack with ease. As one end now exposed, I immediately noticed the color and quality of the textile. Smooth, silky, and super black. I ripped the entire paper coating with curiosity.

    Yeeeeeesssss !!!

All eyes were on me when I screamed with excitement. I immediately knew the core content just as soon as I saw the bag logo, “ACER”.

I thank the GREAT CODER for the blessings!!

I opened the lid. Booted it up, and there it is. Just right beside the desktop icons, the definition: Acer Asphire 5732 Z.

Guess the first website, the user checked, FIFA !!!!!

    Hehehehehe.

    Am I in?

WOW - what a great introduction! What a good story-teller...Welcome Welcome Welcome to DUMAGUETE...!

How dare you, a local, calling Dumaguete a Duma? If jellyfish refused to accept Holland for the Netherlands, I - refuse to accept Duma for Dumaguete! :D

    Teasing you...
Really a lovely introduction. Please don't hesitate to entertain us more with your future postings.

Yes, you are in kly_dee !
Welcome and good luck with your Acer laptop (mine is Acer as well).
I could not follow it all however. What is "Stamstop" or "Stamptop" ?
I only now STAMPOT: an old 'delicious' Dutch potatoes-carrots mix with an onion sauce with some tiny peaces of meat (which I hated to eat as a child)

I know that they have better food and beer (they say) in Belgium. I worked there quite some time.
I don't mind that they react like this.
What else they can be proud of. Soccer ? 3 or 4 languages ? Manneke Pis ?,
Sorry ....of topic. I could not resist :D
Btw ..... it is since very long 'The Netherlands" or do you mean a certain province ?

Oh no, firefly - we bake diced bacon separately and pour or mix it into almost ready stampot (so it is IN the stampot itself)...and then we still eat them WITH really BIG sausage.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! For the warm welcome!

I'll do my best to contribute what ever information I have to the forum community.

You are absolutely correct, josephen, the term 'DUMA' does not define anything. It rhymes like 'PUMA'. It even sounds like the slang pronunciation for 'doomer'.

The term was actually coined by one of our VOIP conference facilitator (the Meeting Place, in the net) as he begins his attendance roll call. He usually goes, like:

    Amherst here?
    Yes!

    Buenos Aires here?
    Yes!

    Roxas here?
    Yes!

    DUMA here?
    Almost!

It's only when he says, "How are you Dumaguete?" then we get to answer, "Yes we're here!"

Hehehe. He doesn't know that while placing the Avaya phone on mute, we are yelling, "It's Du-ma-gue-te!"

    Whew! hehehe.

I don't really know how she got the word "STAMPTOP", jellyfish. I'm thinking it's one of those communication errors. Wherein, the exact word said by the communicator could have been 'LAPTOP', but what was heard was different. I admit I've been to that situation as well. New word new term, given over garbled signal. Well, as what they always ask, "Is it the communicator or the Communicated? It’s just either.

I thank you guys for the welcome.

I was laughing when I read the introduction again, though. Lots of error. Like: 'leaving room' instead of 'living room'. "Older then.." instead of "Older than".

Sorry Mr. Dale (my college English teacher).

    - - - - -

    Again, THANK YOU! Dumaguete Info!
