    hi
just did a bike ride from cebu to dumaguete and around negros and was surprised at all the 5 peso parking attendents in dumaguete.
the one that really amazed me was at robinsons, a great big car park and guys
holding out their hands for the money to park your bike,
sure it is only 5 peso but i was talking to one guy who had his bike dropped by one of the attendants outside macdonalds , he got no compensation
i am just surprised robinsons and the locals put up with it.

What is your problem, only 5 pesos.
They park you motor bike, put cover on your seat , get your motor bike when you are going, and taking care for steeling
Yes you have a big problem
You also can park it somewhere else for nothing but you have to walk 50 meters.

In my opinion, most of those guys are poor, most likely have family or
someone to feed. So they are working to service customers, instead of following people around begging. P5 is ok by me.

I would rather they followed me around begging than screw with my bike. Within one year both sides of the plastic were broken on my bike by these "helping hands." Two years ago I repainted, within a month one of these morons had knocked it over into a concrete pillar, where it was parked specifically to be out of the way and unmolested.

i dont want them to look after my bike, and cover it with crappy cardboard
i expect to be able to go to a major mall ie robinsons without having to deal with them on the way out. it does not happen in cebu, why dumaguete

There is a very simple solution. You just talk to the person for one second with a smile and explain you dont need the bike looking after because you are only popping in the shop for a minute. Then when you leave you smile again and say maybe ill be longer next time, thank you... a smile and politness can get you a long way. PS i lived in Cebu for 4 years and it does happen there, ( moved here last year ) not everywhere but it happens. Use the same anywhere in the world, be polite and wear a smile !
