Hi, I've been lurking for a few months, just gaining knowlege and wasting time. My wife is from Cagayan de Oro and we currently live in Las Vegas NV. We're looking for a place to call our second home. Apparently CDO is too close to relatives, so Dumaguete and Cebu are on our short list. I'm leaning towards Cebu because it's easier to get to from the states and it has most of the modern amenities that us spoiled americans demand, but Dumaguete seems to have its charms as well. Thanks to all who post...even the fights are fun!

We'll be in town from roughly July 30 - August 2 and we'd like to find a hotel in or near the center of town, preferably one with high quality (ie. Marriott, Sheraton) mattresses. I've slept on a lot of foam in the Philippine, and it's better than the floor, but I guess I'm just a princess! An internet connection is a must as well, and a pool would be nice but not necessary.

    Thanks
    Kelly

Look out for the valet parking it fills up fast.

Someone finally has me laughing now. :D

Yeah ......sure me too. But I delete the word "finally" because I laugh here every day (unless my GF has a bad day :D).
Well kelly (Markelbat), you seem to have lurking not enough the last few months on the internet. If you lurk on Dumaguete Info (this forum is on that too) then you would have noticed that a Sheraton, Mariott and the like is far below the quality level you will find in our big city of Dumaguete :D
    Yes....I'm joking.
Matresses you can however buy here at many spots, and they even are not of a bad quality. Dewfoame is a good shop here.
But seriously ....internet connections are available at many hotels but a pool ????
Again ..... this is not Las Vegas or Cebu City.
I wish you luck with your decision.

Thanks Pedro and Jellyfish. I've just become more educated about Dumaguete. I guess if we fall in love with the place we'll deal with the mattress and pool situation then. (And the valet parking).

If you want a U.S. standard accommodation (and price), I highly recommend the Atmosphere Resort in Dauin, about 30 min. from Dumaguete. Rooms are fantastic and dining is elegant with good wine list. Also, it has a PADI dive center.
