So, I have spent several hours on the LTO website and I keep getting conflicting statements.
When I went to get my driver's license, I told them that I wanted to be able to drive both cars and motorcycles and I wanted a "non-professional" license, since I won't be using it for work.
So when it was issued, it said "Class 2". When I asked, they said that was any vehicle (motorcycles or cars or trucks) up to 4500 gvw.
Then, a neighbor told me that it MUST have a "class 1" for motorcycles, or the LTO checkpoints will hassle me (bribe or ticket)
At that point I went to the LTO website and nowhere does it say exactly what the Class 2 includes.
Does anyone here know for sure what is what?

And.....if I want both motorcycles and cars/trucks, should it say "1" AND "2" (possibly)?

 You need restriction 1 & 2 (non-Professional ) It is obtained from the LTO office. I have just renewed mine and What a hassle I had. Good Luck.

Jackpeterson....you are exactly right. After reading your reply, I went to the home of a friend of a friend and talked to a lady that works in the drivers license section of LTO. She said the same as you. It must have a "1" and a "2".
    Thank you.

One of the reasons I am coming to look at the PI soon is the irritations over anything here in Ecuador. The language barrier (I am not yet nearly capable in Spanish) just makes all projects more difficult. One can always get several "official" stories as to how things like drivers' licenses are obtained, and they are all different. Looking forward to visiting and getting to chat personally with several members about all manner of stuff.
