Life is varied on it's aspect and everyone borne should inhabit the earth on it’s own context…nobody should be forced, accused to for anything under the general good unless being persistently adverse on it’s own behavior.

What may be needed is for the local government to have the political will to address the problem. After all they are still part of the Philippine ethnic tribe that is nomadic in nature. Anyway, there is a law that prohibits begging and giving them but these problems keeps perpetuating all around P.I. I was wondering if we extend generosity or not who is responsible for their welfare ?

Anyone that gives money to an annoying beggar is subsidizing his own harassment.

    Compassion

I would just go back to the comments made earlier about compassion. You would rather just kick someone out. A strong central government could do some good. Strong laws about begging would have a positive impact on Dumaguete. People helping introduce education and livelihood could also help. Instead you call for kicking them out. The funny thing is that many of you on this post calling for the Badjao to go home could not be paid a million dollars to travel in the lands the Badjao are from because it would cost a million dollars to get you ransomed out. They didn't start the violence in Sulu. They are not the ones carrying on the violence in Sulu. Having more money and more opportunity than someone does not give you more right to the city of Dumaguete.

without being rhoode, but you have very obviously a lot of theoretical knowledge but even more obvious not the slightest clue about the development in Dumaguete regarding that topic the last few years (at least the few years I am here).

so please please spread your wisdom somewhere, where you also can find spiritual people with pink glasses and don't waste server space other people are paying for, thanks in advanced....

You basically support criminal activities, with supporting them. At least that's what I call it, when some of them go into my property and try to break into my house. (btw, they were Christmas choral singers from another island )

So to use your utter stupid argument and turn it around. Just because I might have more money it gives them the right for criminal activities ?

Another interesting fact is that the crime-rate in Dumaguete went also up with the numbers of "visitors" from other islands.

    Known about in Alaska

While on the corner near Lee Plazza and Jolibee (Chow King, etc.), I observed a real disgusting creep selling cigarettes from a tray. 3 very young boys were playing like boys do, laughing and so on. When the "creep" noticed them, a very cruel demeanor appeared on his face and he pointed and scolded the boys. Immediately, they started begging people exiting pedicabs and others in the area. It is very obvious that the creep is forcing them into this. Later, a couple young girls showed up. And, again the creep selling cigarettes got that mean face and pointed down the street. The girls stopped laughing immediately and headed towards pointed direction. I couldn't see what they ended up doing from my seat inside Jolibees but I know the cops don't give a d*mn there so......life goes on! The Philippines will never change, and that's why I admire Rhoody all the way from Alaska. He is respectful, tolerant, and says it like he sees it. Rhoody is one of the better assets of Dumaguete. Thank you Rhoody for being you!
To all the newbes, life is an adventure and thus, you will experience many different phases of your life adventure. I'm happy for you all in your keen enthusiasm, but also sad for the negatives you may experience.:mad::D

Talking about BAdjao.....interesting topic here. Dumaguete is not they only City that's infested with these people. I had a bad experience with badjao kids when I was living in Tagbilaran City. I love to help especially when you see kids begging and how pitiful they look. But one time when I gave this little girl a few pesos...here comes a bunch of badjao kids running after me for money. When I don't have a change to give....everybody started to pulling my clothes. So..when that happen...i stop helping those people. The badjao in dumaguete is getting ridiculous. A bunch of kids will be waiting outside of jolly bee pulling your clothes and getting in your way while your walking forcing you to give them something.
I know that there are bunch of people that really need some help but keep feeding the badjao NO! NO!
