Redee raised a similar question in an earlier thread, and I told her my tried and tested "protection method". I too was in Borneo/Labuan in the 60's with the Gurkhas, and our mozzie repellant was to rub our skin with a mixture of sand and Gurkha rum. When the mozzies landed on us they got so pissed that they killed themselves by throwing rocks at each other. :D:D:D

    Mosquito Dunks?

In the states, we had these round, granulated discs that we could drop into wet places that mosquitos liked to lay their eggs.....they were called mosquito dunks. Are those available here? Or does anyone know what could be poured or sprinkled that would get the same results? We have two drains on our street, one on our side drains well, but the one on the other side doesn't seem to hardly drain at all and I am worried about the mosquitos hatching from there.
Thanks!! Also, I have been using these mosquito coils called "Lion-Tiger Mosquito Killer" that seems to really help ward off the mosquitos, not sure they really kill them, but we definitely don't have mosquitos around when we are using them.

If you feel vulnerable specially when your unconsciously sleeping or even paranoid about them. The ol' reliable, forcefield like "MOSQUITERO" (Sleeping net??if i have the english term right) will protect you from the pesky mozzies.

Here a solution from my old Sound Tech times. It is not that common, but probably the best I experienced.

First, download this MP3 sound file:

    http://media.libsyn.com/media/gskl/22000.mp3

The using WinAmp or another MP3 player, put the sound file on continuous loop and your problems are gone. I have been using it for a long time, and it's working great.

Of course, this means leaving your computer on while you are sleeping or while in your room. You can also play the file on your mobile phone if you are walking around, in the park, or in your car.

BTW, this 22k Hz tone is out of your hearing range, so you will not be aware of it, nor will it cause you any future problem.

Some animals get attracted by the (for humans not hear-able) sound. So don't wonder if your cat or the neighbor carabow attacks your computer speaker :D

Great Idea Rhoody. I was out back here in the states and the little buggers ate me up. I should have read the forum earlier.

The smoke of Lion-Tiger doesn't kill mosquitos but they don't like smoke and stay away.
Any smoke will keep mosquitos away.
