I'm a 13a visa holder, and live in Manila. I've been telling my wife that I need nearly 3000 pesos to get through the airport, but I'm not sure how to explain it. I know that I have to pay 750 pesos to use the airport. But when I get to the immigration area, since I don't have a tourist stamp in my passport, I have to show my ICR card at a window on the side, and fork over another payment. I can't remember exactly how much it was, or exactly what it was for. Nearly 2000 pesos if I remember right. Can anyone shed more light on exactly how much the fee is, and why I have to pay it?
Think so Yeah, when I went home to Oklahoma a few months ago, I got that extra "pricey" fee when leaving....luckily, I had enough money with me!! I think you are right, I think it was 2000 php plus the 750 php airport fee. I feel like it almost a slap-in-the-face fee after what I went through and how much it cost, to get my ACR.
well, I dont understand you guys, that costs are very clearly announced on several government websites. you (like i do) take advantage to stay here. get the fregging easy available info before you make any steps, don't whine after. Travel Tax Rates (in Pesos) First Class Passage Second Class Passage Full Rate 2,700 1,620 Standard Reduced Rate 1,350 810 Privileged Reduced Rate For Overseas Contract Workers’ Dependents 400 300 you are foreigners and the PI takes your money. I seriously cant understand how people from "educated" countries (well we talk about the US, so it is a kind of .... nah I stop better now) can be so naive or/and stupid. You seriously can't blame any country in the world for your own inability to read, think AND understand
Correct! :( I am very afraid, that Rhoody is So correct, It may seem like Small print but it is there, There is one Bonus However, If you do, as I do, travel a lot. ie; 6 or more times a year, A block payment of 850p per exit is in place. This can be done through the DFA. Mind! it is a Business deal, so Paper Work is needed. Quotes for jobs is adequate, just need an invite from a foreign firm. ( Imagination needed here ) " There is No such thing as a FREE Lunch! " Dong! wish we could help explain to your good Lady! Jack P.
Exit Fees Ha Ha - well put Roody! But am I correct in thinking that this is the only country in the world that charges people to LEAVE? Not the airport tax, that's standard worldwide.
This is quite disturbing news! I have confidence that the last two replies confirming the existence of the tax are probably accurate. I think I know my way around the B of I website but I could find no mention o fit What to do? Well here's a start for 13a visa holders. Write to the bureau of Immigration and ask for a confirmation. Here's the e-mail address: xinfo@immigration.gov.ph Here's what I asked: "I have been reading in a local Dumaguete travel forum that 13a visa holders are required to pay a fee in addition to the 750 pp airport fee in order to exit the Philippines Republic. Can you confirm that this is indeed the case? If so, what is this fee called and how much is it? If so, what is the rationale for this fee and where on your website is it described?" As a follow on, have your spouse scream bloody hell as well! Remember the 13a visa is issued in response to a joint petition of you and a citizen of the Philippines Republic. YOU CAN BE SCREWED OVER WITH IMPUNITY! Your spouse has recourse to which you do not. The Bureau of Immigration reports directly to the President. If /when you get an unacceptable response - have your spouse write to him.
If you purchase the ticket through an agent inside the PH they are supposed to include the cost of the tax in your ticket. So perhaps that online deal is not as good as it looks. Anyway this thread is another example of why I watch the forum. There is always good information even if....
Maybe there should be a big sign upon entrance to the Philippines that states: Enter At Your Own Risk, And Be Prepared To Pay Upon Entrance, Pay Upon Staying, And Pay Upon Leaving!
