I live up in Bacolod and was planning to drive down to the Dumaguete area in a day or two with my wife. We would like to stay at a real nice beach resort for about 3 days.

Doing a Google search, I found what looks like a real nice resort in Dauin called the "Atmosphere Resort".

For some strange reason, you can't find the prices for there rooms on there webpage. If you call the phone number shown on there webpage, all you get is a busy signal (have tried calling for the last 2 hours). I am getting real mixed feelings bout this place.

Does anyone know anything about the Atmoshere Resort that you can share with me?

Is there any other really nice 4 star type resorts that you know about anywhere in the area that's on the beach? I sure would like to talk on the phone with someone at one of these resorts prior to making the 6 hour drive down there.

    Thank's,
    Ron
    (Bacolod City)

Still can't get Atmosphere on the phone ... continually rings busy.

Did a Google search and found a couple more in Dauin.

Atlantis Resort ... Another resort that fails to provide room rates on there website.

Mike's Resort ... looks to be cheaper than Atmosphere or Atlantis

Pura Vida Resort ... so-so reviews

Bahura Resort ... Some bad reviews on "TripAdvisor"

Anyway ... anyone know anything about these places?

    Ron,

    La Maison ...

Thanks ... I finally was able to talk to the Atmosphere Resort on the phone. There room rate for the standard room (called a "Suite") is 5,565 pesos per day ($127 USD).

Seems kind of pricey for the Duma area ... More like Makati prices to me.

    El-Dorado!

Even El-Dorado are reluctant to give room Rates on the Web or by Telephone, I guess maybe they want to see the colour of your Skin First GMP!

well, what you pay is what you get. for my personal taste Atmosphere is a bit to sterile without life, but others like that so it comes a lot to individual taste.

If you just want a nice clean resort with some space but not sterile you may have a look at Well Beach, Thalatta or Mikes. Pura Vida and Atlantis will be in the higher price range, ElDorado is an alternative too, a bit narrow build but good restaurant, in walking distance of some other resorts

Atmosphere is a nice place and they deal nearly only with (potential) customers via the internet.
But I like personally very much the atmosphere at Atmosphere. When you really want to spent some days of relaxation without any disturbances, this is a good (but expensive) option.
If you need to lay down on a proper beach (a bit black, but still ok) then the options are like Rhoody mentioned: Mike's Dauin Beach Resort, Pura Vida, Atlantis, El Dorado.
But also Private Residence could be an option for you. Check it out. I guess the prices there are a bit higher, but it is more 'private' than the others. Thalatta is very nice (my neighbour !) but misses a real beach. For the rest it has only to me positive points (like the restaurant) and a good staff/service.
If you don't mind a lower quality of your room etc.. and go for the cheap but still romatic, than look for Malatapay Beach Resort.
If you are more of an adventures type, this would please you surely.

You better can skip Private Residence, nice room,s nice swimmingpool nice garden no doubt about that.
But the restaurant is like a hospital, and the service is very bad , I know because I stayed there for two week last year.
Atlantis dont give prices so you have to sent an E-mail , but the service is perfect and the price higher , and yes you have to pay for that.

While on vacation food is important.
I only know the restaurants of Atlantis-El Dorado-Pura Vida and Mike's, but they are on walkingdistance from each other and that is an advantage if you want to taste different kitchens.

Atmosphere is great, rooms and food, if you don't mind spending big pesos. My out of town friends and my wife and I stayed there for our wedding weekend and it was great. They have 3 types of rooms ranging from approx. 90 sq mtr to 200 sq mtr penthouses. They are building a new spa so if not complete you can ask for a discount due to construction. You can email them at their internet site for rates and availability and then you can call them, if necessary. Pool is very nice, beach is rocky but ok for snorkeling, dive shop there. My Makati friends liked it enough where they are planning on going back. Good wine selection. They have U.S. beef as well as great local lapu lapu. Ejoy.
