I know there must be a ton of info on this site, but I have searched and searched, and can' seem to find it. I am wanting to file for my 13a visa here in the U.S. if that is possible, before I move to Dumaguete in November. Can some one please tell me a simplified list of the things I have to do to accomplish this, or direct me to the thread or web site, where I can get this information. Also where do I get this letter, or form, that my wife has to sign, saying I am married to a Philippina?

All help will be greatly appreciated, since I only have 6 weeks before my jumping off date.

    Thanks Gecko

You really need to contact the Philippine Embassy in Washington and check out their website since it will have more relevent information than the PI immigration website.

Pedro, unfortunately, is mistaken. Embassies are NOT empowered to do this. It is a turf protection thing.

You will have to wait until you are in the Philippines. Here's the link to the B of I website:

The Bureau of Immigration, Philippines Official Website - MAIN

Read, learn and re-read again. Repeat. It's all there. You just need to keep reading until you find it. Work your way through the news items. There is even a 1-800 number and a link for your written questions.

It's about a year and a half start to finish and a whole sock full of pesos. You'll love your visits to Cebu!

    Have fun!

Since when are embassy's all over the world not allowed to issue a 13 a visa?
They have done so in the past, when did this change?

    No Change!

No Change there Firefly, My First was issued In Madrid (SPAIN) in 2008 and renewed in Cadiz ( Spain) in 2009 and was recently made Permanent In July this year. There does seem to be some confusion on this issue.:( The only thing I did not get was the ID card which I picked at the BI on Arrival in Manila.

If our Friend gecko has his wife living in the US with him, then NO they will not issue a 13a as the Spouse must reside in the PI, Maybe this is the confusion bit.

    @gecko!
No matter what, No way will it be issued in 6 weeks, best apply for a 9a Visitor Visa for 59 days or enter on Passport and extend. Bye the way, Welcome to DI hope all goes well.

Well, a lot of interesting stuff. I was afraid I would have to wait until I got there. I guess, for the same reason, you can't get a visa for the U.S. in the PI, you can't get a visa for the PI in the U.S.
Yes, my wife lives here with me, and we are currently working on dual citizenship's for her and our kids. I guess I will just come over on my passport, as I usually do, and visit Cebu. I will try and have all the documentation done before I get there, (passport photos, copy's of birth certificates, etc. etc.) So maybe I won't have to make too many trips to Cebu.

    The Embassy!

 No matter who you are, where you are. colour Creed or Religion, The Embassy of YOUR Country has a responsibility to offer you all the help it can.
Visa's ARE the responsibility of the Embassy of YOUR Country. The Very fact, that as you enter an Embassy of any Country, You are in fact IN that Country. So Of course if you are applying for a VISA, No matter for what, It is the country you wish to visit that has the necessary forms and such like. They can and will issue depending on the Circumstances.
I have posted as many of us have, many posts, as have others, obviously not read or listened too, I even asked what would you like to know, when I went to the PI Embassy in Madrid to collect my 13a Permanent Visa. YET we still have the members that say OH! you can't do that cos it is a Turf war. PLEASE! lets get this straight. As I said before it is not what you ask, It is the way you ask it. I agree that you must read all there is to read about Visas, I am the First to say all Embassy's SUCK, BUT they can and will issue the necessary Visas on production of completed and correct paperwork.

    Hello guys,

Just one thing I would like to ask. I know this was not written in the official requirements of the BI in the philippines. I would like to know if the BI office in cebu will ask a birth cert. to my husband if he applies for a 13a visa. And also aside from all the official requirements of the BI for applying a 13a visa do they have any additional requirements ? Thanks in advance.
