    Antique and Vintage?

 Mark, Welcome to DI, as an Englishman,(sometimes we don't understand our own language) I wonder what you consider the difference between Antique and Vintage, Over the past few years this issue comes up in conversation. Many trains of thought BUT maybe a new voice will be useful.

Hello Jack, As a 10 year veteran of eBay, I try to distinguish myself from the antique word abusers. The definition for me is 1940 and before for antiques and 1950 to 1970 for vintage. If you read different trade articles most say vintage is 1960 to 1930 antique is 1920's and before and anything before 1880 is primitive. Being in the land of Philippines, vintage is probably anything before 1980, not so much history here. Just my interpretation

Well I was born in 59, and I'd much rather be referred to as "vintage" than "antique".
