I, my husband, and our 2 young children who originate from Canada are hoping to move to Dumaguete the start of 2011. Our kids are 4 and 2 and we could really use some help on finding them the right school!! We have heard of lots of different kindergartens and nursery schools in the area but are finding it very hard to get any information about the schools on line. We are looking for a school that is popular with both local and ex-pat kids (mainly so our blonde blue haired kids dont stick out) and has a good grasp on family values and well being, not so much emphasis on religion - we have been a told a lot of places are run by nuns! Any help or advice any one can pass to us would be greatly appreciated:smile: thanks in advance..

Sorry but blond, blue haired kids are going to stand out and there is nothing you can do about that. Lots of posts on the schools in this forum but I dont think there are as many expat kids attending as you think there are.

Family values but no nuns, not sure where you will find that. Good luck on your search though.

Thank you Pedro for your quick and honest reply. We are basically looking for a small nursery and primary school that has a mix of children in. At the moment we live on a small island and our kids are the only foreign children here! We just want them to be somewhere where there is a little more of a mix...if anyone can give us any more indication as to where other families in our same predicament send there kids that would be great??

I don't think that blonde, blue-eyed would attract too much attention. But blonde, blue-haired ?????? That's a whole different issue................:D:D:D

If you want family values but no nuns, check out ABC Learning Center in Bantayan. They have Nursery to 6th grade, and they have a really good reputation here. I also know the owners personally and I would vouch for them and their practices anytime.

maybe montessori may be good for nursery level. i saw a post here somewhere, where a guy mentioned how amazed he was what his small one was learning there. i am not sure where exactly a montessori nursery is, but think i saw one once on the way up to valencia.

    Maria Montessori b1870

 Born in 1870, Maria Montessori, an Italian doctor started her nursery to give a better standard of education to pre-school Children. The Name is not a Registered trademark so can be copied and run as such. They are all over the World. More can be found by going to - montessori nurseries- I never knew either Linus, I had heard and seen them all over, you just stirred my enquiring mind:D anyway it is a good web site and I am sure any information on the PI will be there somewhere.

How are you anyway, long time no hear from you?
