Should add Bunta....the English degradation probably has lot to do with teacher salaries and status. Both have gone south in the last twenty years. My wife has made similar observations...The government needs to wake up on the issue...it really is the only positive feature that gets Filipinos overseas employment over Thais, Indonesians, etc...

Yes and that edge has been lost as I reference a new school here in Laem Chabang that has flat out made their policy that Philippine teachers are not allowed. The schools that do hire the Filipinas keep them now mostly as playground monitors, etc.I have a sister in law in Eastern Samar who is a teacher who has argued with me and insisted that James
Garfield was the first American president and she had the textbook to prove it. She also gets paid every few months and not regularly.Sad situation.Off to bed for me.Nice chat.

Bunta...no worries...but...I'm down in Australia...come on down anytime to Perth though. Beautiful place... If I'm in the Philippines it's probably in Bacolod or Bohol. Anyway, we're looking at spending 50/50 in the Philippines in a couple years when we retire - and currently shopping around for rural property about an hour from Perth for our gardens and farm animals...We're very much over - spending our lives in the Philippines....nice to spend some enjoyable time in the Philippines....but Australia is so pleasant too....and quality of life is much better...Looking forward to splitting our time as long as we can...then ending up here.

Yes, what is really nauseating is..underpaid teachers are so often 'expected' to pay for school functions, assist students, etc....from their meager and irregular salaries. This while the politicians and cronies rob the country blind and the populace stupidly bends over for more. I personally can hardly wait to see the military take over...anything would be better than the farcical situation now.

    Hi Bunta,

Sorry we got off on the wrong foot. I accept that you were joking but it seemed to me that you were laughing at our forum members rather than with them. Many of the members here did not have the advantage of growing up with English as a first language; they come from around the world. I appreciate every members efforts to communicate here and try hard to understand what they are saying and sharing.

I hope you do pay us a visit. Let us know when you will be arriving and we can share a beer or many beers. It’s amazing how much that can add to understanding and communication.

    Kenny

I think I've been around for quite a time as I have written more than 200 posts but I still have one green block. Why? How does the rating work?

    Marrying a Filipina

I dont know whether I remember it right but I think it was in this forum where I read that if you intend to marry a Filipina, be sure she is an orphan. Can somebody help me locate this please? I find it very interesting.

I am quite sure it was Biker Dave who did put that funny "slogan" under his postings. Please take it not too serious. I know the guy a bit :D
But I am confused why you do put that question on this thread of "Forum reputation function added".
Is it that you want to give Biker Dave a compliment or a penalty ?
Did you find out yourself now what he was preaching ? :D

Thank you very much for your reply jellyfish. I surely appreciate it. Yes, I found what I was looking for. Now I can advise my friend who is very interested to get a Filipina for a wife.
