⌛ I need to pay to leave the Philippines?

My wife first told me the scandal - She claims to have seen them at Holy Child. The lady was already dead according to her.

Forgive me but - I'm sceptical.

Just to say. Anyone with an SRRV ( Special Resident Retiree's Visa ) or thinking of applying for one.
They are exempt from travel tax if the stay has been less than one year from the last entry date. Probably does not apply to most but may be worth knowing for some. Take care.

The latest scoop from a friend who flew out of the Philippines 2 months ago and recently came back. International "exit tax" 2200P. Airport fee 250P. 2450P total required TO LEAVE!

 

Your friend got off lightly, non? Isn't the airport fee at Manila PP750?

I was PO'd at this one initially - but no more. It applies equally to most Philippine residents, so it can't be considered a gouge aimed at anyone in particular. If your airfare is sold in and ticketed in the Philippines (SITI), the departure tax will be embedded in the ticket price.

Too bad that no one trusts the other guy enough not to do the same thing with the various airport terminal fees and get rid of all those employees who sell and those more who merely check the fee stubs. It's still a long way from the 21st century here sometimes.

I recently travelled from Hong Kong home to Dumaguete. In terms of transportation and all the foolishness which surrounds travel here, it was a voyage from the sublime to the ridiculous.

I'm wondering if this travel tax has anything to do with Cebu Pacific's 1,600 peso tax that automatically gets added to online airfare bookings made using a foreign credit card, but not added when buying the tickets in person in the CP office at Robinson's Malate.

I saw this tax added when booking online, for a domestic flight, but ended up waiting in line at the CP office to purchase the tickets with cash, and wasn't charged the extra 1,600 pesos.

 

Please tell us more. If you are talking about a foreign flight booked in the Philippines, in combination with other fees - that may be the same thing.

As for your contention of a penalty for using a foreign credit card VS cash: It ain't so! I travel regularly on Cebu Pacific. I charge it to my Canadian VISA card without additional fee. I surely would have noticed.

I believe that you need to spell out your contention in considerably greater detail.

 

Well, my credit card wouldn't go through, booking the flight online, so I went in person to the malate office and bought the ticket... which was 1600 pesos cheaper.
