This may not be a popular thread. A few of the "old timers" on this forum seem to take the position on an entitlement to critique threads from others without offering much added value with their commentary, and oh by way seldom start new threads themselves (moderators excluded). If you are enlightened to tell a messenger they are wrong, then protocal calls for you to state what is right, in your opinion. All on board are entitled to their opinion, we may not agree with it but we should respect it and if compelled to respond add value to the conversation.

    PatO,

you can include me. Well, one difference between a board like that and lets say a soccer board is that many people come and go after they have the information they wanted while on a soccer-board each weekend is a new main-event and more people are active.

It is the nature of boards like this, that most older members come in give Info when appropriate like Jellyfish, shadow and others but don't start new threads. They also don't have that many questions.

Than you have on each board the famous 1-line kings and the "you are all wrong but I don't tell you whats right"-members.

Some people also need this kind of forums for their "secret" identity as they might not have much to do or to say in reality, so let us all be happy to give them at least a little bit pleasure.

One nice function I use on board where I am just a member is the "ignore" function. After a few hours on a board I know which persons I don't want to see and put them on that list, without bad feelings, but they don't give me any value, so I don't wanna waste my time with seeing or reading or even scrolling over their posts

Once in a while new members are joying which just do a great job and create some wonderful value. Examples from the last few month would be some detailed Visa threads, marriage - process, your very own and brilliant house-cost-thread. After OMW found out how to post/import pictures here, he opened some awesome AND informative picture threads which is just great value.

Sadly I have the feeling when roaming around that many of us long-noses in Dumaguete have a half empty and not a half full glass. I mentioned many times that the expat community here is totally different to other Cities in the PI, which reflects in every-days life on the street as well as on this Forum.

Another reason could be that for many people the Internet is still something "fantastic" and they think there are no rules online.

I see stolen content from here and other of my websites all over the net. When I confront the thief, they get angry, try lying that they never stole anything (even it is still there) or start with plain stupid arguments like "It is online, so it is for everybody and I can use it however I want".

I guess with this reply I confuse you even more, so I better stop now.

BUT, while writing this post I think I got a half way good idea. I might create a new sticky - thread where I post links to the very-valuable threads like those mentioned earlier.

a great weekend to all and

    cheers

    Rhoody

I've seen people complain about this before, it won't work and it'll make no difference.
