Bought my ticket to dumaguete from manila yesterday and checked on baggage restrictions.mine are around 3 pieces all within 200 pounds total.from hawaii I get 140 pounds free all the way to manila so I pay 125 dollars to fit in the extra wieght, from manila to dumaguete i pay $200 for all I have over 15 kilos if I'm not misunderstanding the terms list.the ticket to haul my passenger weight was pleasing to me when i paid only $45 for it even though I weigh twice as much as my baggage, I'm prepared to pay but deficient at understanding this wieght carriage pricing..???

It may be cheaper to buy your baggage an extra ticket! I too found the extra baggage charges ridiculous, especially compared to the initial ticket price!

You will be paying a lot of money if you check in your stuff, 120 pesos per kilo.

You can drop off you luggage at the Pal cargo building which is located just before you get to the PAL terminal. Just ask the taxi driver. They will take your cargo and it costs about 30 pesos per kilo. If you have the afternoon flight and you drop it off early the cargo is loaded on the same flight and you can pick it up at the PAl cargo office in Dumaguete.

For Cebu Pacific, the same deal. Their cargo office is at the old domestic airport.

We have saved a lot of money this way.

CebuPacific let you pay on line in advance and you get a 20% discount. Sports Equipment gores for a flat P 1,000.00 supposedly regardless of the size (lets see how a heavy dive bag goes)

Yeah i did try cebu pacific but they were all booked for my day of travel..I did a test run packing today wieghing all i got and it seems I will meet the free allowance to manila from hawaii so save 125 dollars there and save some more from manila to dumaguete by having only 140 pnds or less,I hope I can find good deal to vietnam in march,i thought vietnam trip to be 200 dollars at most but found out first hand its more like 350 one way. Vietnam for a few weeks or a month next year is dream of mine,Any deals known are appreciated...

I've never been to Vietnam, and haven't heard of many who go there. What is the allure?

I heard that vietnam is cool from many an american travelers tale ,it may be more cheap than philippines and for me it is the diet, philippines diet is far too constrained,Pork with pork sprinkles rolled in a wrapp of thin sliced pork and if no pork then fish and chicken, beans are not taken serious, vegetables are not diverse enough,,Vietnam has snake ,bats, bugs, frogs and just a whole variety of healthier meats,And I hope its cheaper as I've heard,,I'm alright with philippines but I must check out vietnam to see if I may want to live a year there after doing a year in philippines,,I like the american veterans office availability in manila though...

Thanks for the reply. Understandable about the variety. Thankfully my wife is an excellent cook and accommodates my taste for Chinese, Korean, Thai, Mexican, "American", Italian, and Filipino foods.

"Vietnam has snake ,bats, bugs, frogs and just a whole variety of healthier meats." :eek::eek:

Vietnam is a cool place to travel, interesting tours out of Saigon - Cu Chi Tunnels, Mekong Delta, etc and you can get tours going up to the Danang area, Dalat and the North has a nice French art style to it and you can visit the beautiful Ha Long Bay. Food around the Saigon (Ho Chi Minh) hotels is very good, personally I would make sure I had Hepatitis A-B shot before I ate anything outside the city. When I went before it was a hassle getting a visa, not sure about now. Also, the Vietnam currency is useless outside of Vietnam and cannot exchange it for anything outside the country. Women, so beautiful.....
