My time is running out (16 months) and I have to exit but I imagine members have a cheap, quick and easy way to exit and return on the same day. If anyone has a suggestion I would appreciate hearing from you. Or perhaps some place for a weekend that would be reasonable and interesting? Thanks
Here is one theoretical possibility, doable in one 24 hour day. It's based on Cebu Pacific's scheduled availability in the middle of next week OUTBOUND 26 October 2010, Tuesday 2130 H 26 OCT Cebu 0005 H 27 OCT HongKong FLIGHT DETAILS This is Cebu Pacific Air, Flight 238, flying from Cebu to HongKong. The plane type is A319-150 seater.Estimated flight time is 2 Hrs 35 Mins. 238 RETURN 27 October 2010, Wednesday 0050 H HongKong 0325 H Cebu FLIGHT DETAILS This is Cebu Pacific Air, Flight 239, flying from HongKong to Cebu. The plane type is A319-150 seater.Estimated flight time is 2 Hrs 35 Mins. 239 I have NOT repeat NOT actually made this trip myself. Perhaps another subscriber has. You would have to check with Cebu Pacific to determine if it was actually doable. If it is, you would be back in Cebu in plenty of time to catch: 27 October 2010, Wednesday 0630 H Cebu 0705 H Dumaguete FLIGHT DETAILS This is Cebu Pacific Air, Flight 867, flying from Cebu to Dumaguete .The plane type is ATR.Estimated flight time is 0 Hrs 35 Mins. Unless your timing is crucial, you can wait for one of CP's numerous seat sales to pick this up at a reduced airfare I hope that this helps or stimulates others to provide alternate possibilities.
The cheapest tickets would be the ones from Tiger Airways....Clark to Singapore... occasionally as low as $17.... Tiger Airways
Thanks for the responses. It appears I will be in Manila around that time for the outbound and return. I was just told I need to stay out of the country three days??? Can anyone verify that? Thanks again...
Manila is more expensive than flying from Clark. No you don't need to be out 3 days (but seeing something different after that time in the PI is never wrong) and you actually can stay up to 24 month as a tourist not 16. From 16th month on you need to fax your application to manila and get the approval around 7 working days later if not listed on any black-lists. The only additional costs are the actual facsimile-costs. Also make sure you have your ECC-Clearance. Getting that in an Airport can be a pain in the back and some of the officials see that as a welcome opportunity for extra income.
Thanks Roody...Your response just raised a few questions so I hope you won't mind responding again. I've been getting 2 month extensions so if I fax: 1. Is the extension for another 2 months? 2. How do I pay them? 3. Is the ECC certificate the clearance I get with each extension and, if so, should I fax my last one? BTW I'm not in Dumaguete but your Forum works for us outlanders too.
1.) yes, it is a 2 month extension like all others before. You can apply at each BoI and they give you a number where to fax it to. Actually Dumaguete just changed it that you can send it via LBC to Manila (faster, cheaper and safer). 2.) all is paid at the BoI you apply, and of course at LBC (or whatever service you are using, LBC is around 100 Peso). After a week or so you call the BoI if your application is approved, if yes, go there and get your extension stamp 3.) The ECC is a paper tourist need after 6 month when leaving the PI. It is paid with the extensions already, but the "service" of actually getting the paper is 500 Peso. The ECC is valid 4 weeks, so you need to schedule your application for it according to the City you are and your date of Departure. To get it can take between 1 hour (Cebu) and 3 weeks (Dumaguete)
Great info Rhoody. It took a week to recently get my exit clearance in Dumaguete, but I'm sure, like anything in the Philippines, it is subject to change. They want you to apply for it a month before you leave though. Along with the date of exit they want to know the name of the airline you are leaving on. So......you have to arrange your flight to get this information to provide the necessary info to get the exit clearance. 2" pictures are also required (similar to a passport photo) and are available at the photo shop just inside Lee Plaza.
Tourist Visa Followup Rhoody, Thought you might be interested in a follow up on extending the 16 month tourist visa. I went to Manila, gave them a letter explaining why I wanted to remain and my passport, with photocopies of each, taking the documents to the third floor IRD office. If the chief is there you can do it all in one day including the usual application for a two month stay. If not then it may be a two day process. The strange part is that to extend again for each two months you need to repeat the exact same process but it worked so thank you for the information.
Thanks for the info. That sounds easier here. I did that last week in Dumaguete. Process like a normal Visa extension. with 1 extra step. 1.) fill in normal application form (5 minutes) 2.) fax form and passport-copies to Manila. (15 minutes) 3.) hand form-copies and fax-report to BoI secretary (15 seconds) 4.) call a week later if approved 5.) go to BoI pick up passport and pay (10 minutes) Did not write any letter whatsoever. pretty painless if there are not 25 Koreans with no english-skills there and you need to fall in line. cheers Rhoody
