do motobike dealers accept a downpayment for a new bike when a kano comes along?

if not and you do pay the bike in cash, how much discount is to be expected?

    Thanks to ya all

If you pay it in cash expect it that you will only get only a small amount of discount. I am not sure but i think they will be unhappy of it because they know they can only get small amount of income out of it. But if you want it to be paid by installment, the amount will run as twice as the original price. So i hope you select the best. If you have money then buy it in cash.

I'm on Mindanao. I bought my second motor from Emcor here it is a Kawasaki Rouser 200 and I love it.
My first purchase was a Honda Wave 125 and I got it from Desmark. I paid 63,000 pesos cash and never asked them what the finance price was. I hated it. No power. That silly "no hand clutch" thing and an upside down shift pattern.
The Kawasaki was 15,000 pesos down and 5,000 pesos a month. Cash price is 94,000 pesos. Financed price is about 200,000 pesos.
    I decided to pay cash.

the actual reason for downpayments is that i can return the bike anytime i feel like it when i want to move on. I have no intention of staying here for more than 6 months so i can buy it and resell it or have a lesser risk by just paying the monthly installment. what is wisdom in this?

I could be wrong (have been many times) but it is my understanding that to finance a bike it must be in the name of a citizen and not a foreigner. In my case, they wanted to put it in my wife's name to finance it, using my income amount.
So your plan may not work.
You need to check more at the dealer.
