Perhaps if he teamed with a former Navy Seal or Marine his resume would be more impressive...

    Perspective means everything.....
I have been here for 11 months now. I came from Houston, Texas. I do not feel any more "un-safe" here then I did after 35 years in Houston, and I live on Mindanao (mentioned above).
I do obviously "stick-out" as a foreigner here. My wife and I go everywhere on a motor that cost 100,000 pesos in a land where a 40,000 peso motor is average and have absolutely no problem, other than locals saying "nice motor".
I do not wear those rose colored glasses, but I am always aware of my surroundings.
The ONLY time I was ever uncomfortable was when we were riding high up in the mountains by Claveria and two men stepped out of a field carrying rifles with scopes and stared at us as we went by. To be honest, I did watch them in my mirrors and maybe went a little faster until they were out of sight. But, on the same token, that also could have happened in the hill country of Texas.
Being alert and not stupid is the key here.
Come and enjoy this wonderful friendly country and your new love. You'll be glad you did.

I hope that Ruanard will communicate

I regret apparent total failure to communicate with you.

I now only hope that others who read my message will understand what I tried to communicate to Ruanard in particular and to a great number of other people around the world.

I read several messages between the lines of your message.

And I hope that Ruanard will tell us about serious matters which he seems to have special knowledge of.

Wait.....the original question is about being "safe".
There was a thread several months ago where we all discussed the traffic here and the vehicles after dark.
I'm not making light of his question, but if you want to talk danger, let's talk traffic again.

Ruanard please tell us what you know

I have not been to Belfast. Or elsewhere in western European islands. I have lived in places where life was influenced by terrorists. Therefore I can tell open-minded people what some of terrorist influenced life is like.

Ruanard please tell us what you know.

If, I remember correctly, when my wife and I flew to the US Consulate in Cebu to get my permission slip to get married, the man there said that there were 280,000 US citizens living in the Philippines now. It can't be that dangerous with numbers like that.

Joec, you do apparently don't get it, no one wants to hear terrorist sh*t. There are a number of us on this forum who could talk about war but one, we don't want to talk about it, two, no one wants to hear about it, and three, not the purpose of this forum. Why don't you video tape yourself talking your terrorist knowledge and watch it yourself and keep that sh*t off this forum.

I think I'll go to bed now while everyone talks terrorism in other countries, because to be honest, and somewhat aloof, I really don't care.
    No insult intended or implied.
Goodnight everyone and don't forget to lock your doors, set out your dogs, lock and load your weapons and have sweet dreams.
