A mouse trap baited with a juicy cockroach should lure the frogs in! :D

    Tip from SF via Alaska

I was a rascal kid living in a tenament type housing in Chinatown San Francisco in the '60s. I observed in the community kitchen the "chinaman (politically correct in my day) boil 2 frogs alive as the frogs just sat still in the water as it heated to a boil. Apparently if you place the frogs in hot water, they will jump and try to get out. However, if you put them in cold water first, they just sit there and burn to death. Wierd? Don't know if all frogs are that lame.

That being said, maybe they communicate and will pass the word to each other that humans need to be avoided???

Hey PatO, if thier feet are indeed sensitive, try scattering diatomaceous earth (also known as diatomite or kieselgur, is a naturally occurring, soft, siliceous sedimentary rock that is easily crumbled into a fine white to off-white powder-Diatomaceous earth consists of fossilized remains of diatoms, a type of hard-shelled algae)
Ok---we use it here in the PacifcNW to discourage "banana slugs" from eating our veggies. They do not like the abrasive feel of the stuff when they attempt to crawl over it. Harmless to animals, easy to find in hardware stores, cause it is used in swimming pool filtration systems. Hope it works on the cane toads!

Thanks, I will have to check what impact that solution would have on my dog when he goes outside. Where in the PacNW are you from, I was born in Seattle.

You can do like Homer does...

And lick them for their toxic yet hallucinogenic properties.

Than you can come back here and post a "trip report".

When it's dry DE also is good for ants. It gets in the insects joints and locks them up. The nationally syndicated radio garden guru Howard Garret here in the Us says you can eat DE with no ill effects. Probably clean you out though. I'm not certain but orange oil might work for toads. DE can also be used to keep the tick population down. It works on their joints the same way as on ants. I don't know what it will do for frogs but it won't hurt your dog.

Sorry if I'm a little skeptical. I hope it works - but having been around cane toads long enough...like I said - they are tough as nails. You could shove glass splinters up it's backside - and it would still be smiling. They are used to discomfort and thrive in pretty harsh conditions. Good luck....you're fighting a war that many countries have already lost.
